Review Time
We had a very poor experience with Glenigan. After a 12-month subscription that proved unsuitable for our business, we intended to let the contract end. Instead, it was automatically renewed for a further 12 months with no renewal reminder, no warning, and no opportunity to review the decision, despite a 90-day notice period being required. When we raised a formal complaint, we were told that Glenigan does not send renewal reminders at all and that once the contract has renewed, cancellation is “not possible”, regardless of whether the customer had clear notice or provided informed consent.Engagement with account managers was later referenced as implied consent to renew, which we strongly disagree with. Support or usage discussions are not agreement to a further long-term financial commitment. This approach places all risk on the customer and feels unreasonable and inconsistent with fair commercial practice. Based on both the product’s lack of suitability and the way the renewal was handled, we would not recommend this company.
Last year, we were chased by Glenigans. Initially, we were sceptical, as we have seen a number of development tools like this fail to work, and found that the enthusiasm from the salesperson is not backed up by the sales or growth received. After (name reducted) and agreeing on a 12-month contract to trial the system, we agreed to go forward with this. We stated that if it worked, we would continue (who wouldn’t continue with a winning solution?!). It became apparent from the start that it was an uphill battle. We contacted many project contacts to express our interest and chased up. We continually had no responses, some of the email addresses bounced back, some telephone numbers were not accurate. After 6 months, we became totally disillusioned with the Glenigans system. We advised our Account Manager that we would not be going ahead with the renewal as we were no getting results, and our use of it tailed right off to zero. With a little more than a month left to go, we submitted a cancellation request. The Account Manager, ( name reducted)then contacted us back quickly, pointing out a clause stating we needed to submit the cancellation in writing 3 months in advance. The clause sent to us stated there was a rolling subscription unless three months' notice was given of any cancellation. He could clearly see we were unhappy with the results we were getting, and instead of recognising this at the three-month cancellation stage, and advising us to get the cancellation in on time, he clearly kept his head down to lock us in for a further year. At no point did he contact us to discuss the renewal. His email was also enthusiastic to mention that he would be ‘supporting us until February 2027’.So what do we think of the system? It may be summed up as follows:• We were promised that it would work, with time. It hasn’t.• We found issues with plenty of old email addresses, contacts and telephone numbers.• Contacting names on the system were met with stone-walling, no response.• Glenigans are only interested in bankrolling you, and not supporting you if its not working for you. Don’t get caught out like we did. We agreed a 12 month contract and have ended up being low-balled by a cancellation contract term.• This experience already cost us around £5k (small contractor) for zero return, and looks like they are trying to low-ball us into paying another year, despite us continually telling them (name reducted) that it wasn’t working and we wanted out.Learn from our mistake, save yourself the money and don’t get caught out by Glenigan’s ‘lock-in’ period!!
Grieg hosted me for a beginners guide to Glenigan the day we signed up and got access to the platform. He walked me through three or four of the most useful things to search for and look at, and gave me some very useful insider tips for reaching out to contacts. I especially love that he kept the training very constrained, and didn't try to teach me the FULL platform in one go! I came away feeling capable, and that I could achieve what I'm aiming to with Glenigan
