Absolute waste of time and money. Avoid GoCardless. Signed up, sold my first product to a new client and then my account was immediately deactivated with no reason given and the client wasn’t given their money back. Really dodgy. The whole situation is very embarrassing to deal with and just makes a terrible first impression with this client. If you’re thinking about giving this company a go, just avoid honestly, it’s been nothing but a headache, and it’s certainly not worth risking your company reputation, time, and money on such a poor service.
We use Go cardless as part of our membership system. Finds were taking longer and longer to reach our account - beyond 14 days when it is meant to be 3 or 4. We found out our account was in review bit had not been notified. We also needed to change account details but needed to go through a lengthy process by showing several pieces of ID from the directors, seems that out account was not enough and the fact we already had the account was not enough. Even after all of this the account is still on verification, severely affecting our business which relies on creating subscriptions. Unfortunately our membership system doesn't give us a choice because it is attached to Go Cardless.
In light of these issues and slow responses to action, would not recommend.

I recently registered in search of a new way to receive payments. After testing the setup with a small amount, a larger sum was sent, but I received an email stating my account was closed after a review. While it's their choice not to keep me as a customer, the larger payment is now lost. The email indicated that any funds in the account wouldn't be automatically returned, and I can’t withdraw them. My partner spent all day trying to resolve this, only to be told to contact her bank for a chargeback, which is misleading advice. This is unacceptable. If they don’t want to keep customers, that's fine, but retaining people's money is inappropriate. My partner has lodged a complaint and will pursue further action if necessary.
I opened an account and made my first payment promptly, only to have my account closed the next day without a clear reason, similar to others' experiences. They took £500 with no way to retrieve it! This is a significant amount for me as a freelancer. I also lost £300 in referral fees.
Do not use this payment processor for your business! I typically use another service but wanted an alternative and heard good things about this one. A client paid £500, and the account was immediately closed. They do not automatically refund clients and refuse to pay me out. Now, I am out of pocket, and they have gained £500 from this transaction. This feels fraudulent. I have reported this to the relevant authorities.
I am very disappointed with this service. They allowed me to open an account and set it up, but then they required more information about my business before processing payments, which I couldn't provide. They closed my account while holding £2,000 of my customers' money. After being a self-employed joiner for 30 years, I was told to ask my customers to contact their bank for refunds. This is a frustrating and unacceptable situation.
This company was once great but has grown arrogant. They strategically hold onto funds for as long as possible and threaten to retain money if customers don’t comply with their demands. They seem to have forgotten their early supporters who valued customer service.
