If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to pay premium prices for disappointment, confusion, and vegetables that age faster than a banana in July, allow me to introduce you to HelloFresh — the subscription box that truly asks, “How low can expectations go?”
Let’s start with the food quality, which is… bold. Daring, even. It takes a certain level of confidence to ship produce that’s already halfway to the compost bin. I’ve had a few days where life got in the way and, shockingly, the veg didn’t survive the wait. Because nothing says “fresh” like courgettes that look like they’ve seen the end of days.
Then there’s the app, which feels like it was designed by someone who actively dislikes people. Miss the deadline by a minute? Congratulations — they’ll choose your meals for you. And not in a “pleasant surprise” way. More in a “here’s a random assortment of things you’d never willingly eat” way. I changed the quantity of meals once — ONCE — and the app responded by cancelling everything I’d actually chosen. Stunning.
The recipe cards? Oh, those didn’t arrive. So I got to play a fun little game called Guess the Dinner, which involves opening every bag like a deranged raccoon and hoping the ingredients vaguely match. Spoiler: they didn’t.
And the grand finale: I’m sending the whole box back. I’m done. I will not be using this place again. If I wanted stress, wilted veg, and mystery meals, I’d just go back to university.
HelloFresh? More like HelloStress.
Honestly stay away, had an account 4mins before I cancelled, they still took payment and claim they can’t refund, they refuse to remove my card details from their system. They’ve also sent 2 pork items which I’ve explained is an obvious issue and they literally do not care
Box arrived crushed, wet and left outside on the floor even though I was indoors… I’m not sure if the ingredients are safe to eat - ice packs nearly completely melted…
Steer clear… please don’t waste your money.
I was going to order hello fresh but then I changed my mind or something came up hello fresh has hit my card up since then 13 times they try to take money off my card it's only obvious that if I didn't order the first time why the hell would they sit there and keep trying to put money out of my card if they pull them out of my car one more time I'm going to sue them that is not cool that's against the law too I didn't if I didn't even give you permission to put any money off my car because I didn't buy nothing I just put my credit card information in and was about to and then change my mind after I got that credit card information they hit my card so many times I almost got charge for the decline hits on my card from hello fresh
Prob won't continue as following the recipe cards is quite hard. I consider myself a reasonable cook. Always cook from scratch, but the steps are overly text n I need to keep checking. Im comparing with a certain competitor called Gousto. Much easier to follow im afraid. Also, im not convinced the quality of veg is v good. So concerned meat won't be either. Sorry
Absolutely disgusted, after cancelling my subscription in January they have took £32 today from my bank after my account 'had been 're activited' which is untrue. Robotic response saying you reactivated it... Untrue just related themselves no refund just offered credit which I refused. I don't recommend.
We’ve had a really positive experience with HelloFresh. They offer a great range of meals that cater to different dietary needs and requirements, which makes it easy to find options that suit everyone in the household. As a family with two young children who can be quite fussy, we’ve been pleasantly surprised at how much they’ve enjoyed the meals. It’s been fun trying new recipes together, and it’s definitely helped us get out of our usual dinner routine.
The delivery charges are fair, and everything arrives fresh and well packaged. The box prices are especially good value when using a discount, although they can feel a little pricey without one. Overall, we’ve really enjoyed the convenience, variety, and quality, and it’s been a great way to introduce our children to new flavours in a stress-free way.
My order arrived late and, while the box itself wasn't visibly damaged, the ingredients inside told a very different story. Multiple items were torn, broken, or pierced, and around half were completely unusable — a clear sign that no care was taken when the box was packed.
To make matters worse, there were no recipe cards included at all, so even the ingredients that were salvageable would have been difficult to use.
When I contacted support, they offered a £13 credit as a resolution — which is pretty pointless given I have no intention of ordering from Hello Fresh again. A credit to a service you've lost all confidence in isn't a refund, it's a way of avoiding one.
I'd strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a meal kit service that actually delivers what it promises.
Box was ordered and not delivered, I only found out much later in the day (after waiting in all day!). Then to be told that the money for the order has automatically been added to a Hello Fresh credit!!! We are in a cost of living crisis, what if I did not have the money to go replace the food not delivered - what if I could not feed my children! I called and the person on the phn was not interested in what I had to say (it was recorded I have taken the name and time I called). In recent weeks I have had the wrong numbers to the recipes, after this I do not think I will be using hello fresh again! Dreadful customer service!
