The band is helpful in figuring out spikes in my blood pressure, but I miss many readings because the band has to be loose enough to get a reading, but tight enough to stay in place. I think the design needs some work to ensure readings are attainable on a more consistent basis.
I really enjoy the convenience of having my BP readings taken throughout the day and night without the inconvenience of getting out a device and applying a cuff. My only feedback would be the ability to automatically share the data with the Apple Health App would be a huge plus.
Was working very well and recording all the information I required. Unfortunately after numerous attempts to réinitialise my equipment I had to give up. I tried again several times after hours of rest periods, but was unable to do it. Lot of money spent. Wasted if I can’t use it. K. Ladd
Aktiia was extremely useful in trying to find an effective medication regime with my cardiologist until it became an unreliable source of data. After about three months, the frequency of readings began to decline sharply. Charging and reinitializing make no difference. I no longer get most overnight readings and daytime readings are irregular with gaps of four to six hours. Clearly, the electronics are failing (sensor, accelerometer ?). It rarely responds to the shake or tap test when it goes into these "dead" periods.A very useful device that sadly is poorly made. I am back to using my old arm cuff so I can get the needed data. The facts that Aktiia seems to offer no customer service other than a very limited bot and replies only to positive reviews should raise a red flag for prospective purchasers. After first posting this review, Aktiia provided the response below. In the response, they say to "reach out to them". I would love to get some help with the apparent mechanical failure of the device. However, Aktiia provide no means of customer service contact. All they offer is a primitive bot (really just a set of nested menus) that has the same information on their website. Absolutely no help in getting product service. You get what is in the box. If it fails, you are on your own. I have edited the title to reflect this.
Due to having a couple of problems, I had been wanting to get a blood pressure monitor but I didn’t want one I had to keep putting on and taking off. I started to do my research and contacted the helpline as I had some questions. The person I spoke to was very knowledgeable, a great help! I have now been wearing this blood pressure monitor for just over a month. I understand that being on a wrist it may not be 100% accurate but it does at least show trends and it gives me an idea of what causes spikes. This has then allowed me to review my lifestyle and start to make changes. I only update this on the app morning and night. Sometimes I have close the app as it will error. But think this is a known problem which is being worked on. It does not detract from its usability. Would certainly recommend one if you are looking for trends or wanting to keep an eye on your heart health.
The wrist device is comfortable and lightweight for wearing 24/7 and provides a general overview of my BP trends. For example, it showed that my BP got higher while sleeping (which I hadn't known) and my doctor adjusted my BP dosage and timing to address that issue. On the negative side, it seems a little sporadic in taking readings as it will regularly show 2-5 hour blocks of time with no readings taken. Adjusting the band tighter or looser seems to make no difference. Bottom line, it is a useful device for giving you a general sense of your BP patterns over time. Purchase and delivery process was great.
My GP will not entertain the results, doesn’t understand the system but she do did two manual BP’s which came back in the normal range, so now she’s sent me home again with a traditional BP monitor to use for a week. Not sure what to think (average over two months about 145/90 with Aktiia) last year I had a 24 hour BP and they wanted to start me on meds but I lost weight and hoped it had normalised, hence my curiosity with the wrist monitor. Now I don’t know if it is normal or not and should I persist with my GP that Aktiia is clinically validated?
