PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SUPPLIER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCESI am beyond frustrated. Believe all the negative reviews on this site and please not listen to the positive ones! If you go on their website you will see they have only listed 4/5* reviews, these are completely fake. I have tried to return the item for all the same reasons everyone else states on this site, the item is just useless and does not work at all! I even got a reading whilst not wearing it!Trying to send it back has been horrendous. 15 emails later I have had to call AMEX and have the funds returned to me directly. A dispute has been raised and AMEX will now claim the money back from the merchant. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SUPPLIER.
My experiences have been disappointing. The device does work ..sometimes. IF I can get it to initialise, which is not often. I have wasted hours on getting through the calibration process with many, many frustrating fails because the 'signal is poor'. Sometimes there is a miracle and it works. But more often I just give up after a frustrating hour and put it back in the drawer again.
I love this product. I used to get terrible white coat syndrome when taking my blood pressure which ended up with it being higher than it should have been. Since getting this bracelet I no longer feel nervous about taking my blood pressure as it does it automatically day and night. I check it every month with the cuff from Aktiia and also with another cuff to make sure it is right. I would recommend this product to everyone.
I am sadly disappointed with this device. I even found the paper written about the principle of measuring BP using this methology. I really wanted something to help me overcome the white coat syndrome so many of us get at the GP’s surgery. I used the system for a few months but had such inconsistent results often after the monthly recalibrations. All my readings dropped 10% and then rose 10% on the next callibration. The systematic errors were worrying. So my confidence dropped and now I’m back to the age old cuff which instills a fear simply by strapping it on. Maybe Aktiia need to read the feedback and adjust the system to correct for these errors. I still believe in the scientific principle but there are some issues with the software, the algorithm and using it while strapped to a wrist mostly in motion. All good technology takes time and needs tweaking. Aktiia, please have another look at the system to make me and my GP confident of the results because at the moment we are on the fence.
While the technical flaws in this device remain the same, I have to say that customer support regarding returning the item has been very good. I have had this device for just over one month. Since having reinitialised the wrist band, as one does every month, my BP readings have shot up. I have reitialised again (after five attempts). Clearly, as others have noted, this device is not reliable. I would recommend buying a good "classic" monitor and accepting that the "whitecoat" effect might lead to slightly exaggerated readings. The Aktiia device is not worth the money. I now need to try and get my money back...
Readings vary wildly from other medically certified BP cuffs. When compared to repeated readings while in hospital recently, for instance, the variance was -30mmHg on this unit, significantly under-reading. Aktiia seem to believe that their bracelet is right and everything else is wrong but offer no justification other than that theirs passed clinical trials. It is also unreliable, often going for prolonged periods with no readings whatsoever. It is supposed to take a reading every 2 hours (not configurable!?) and looking back through the history I see gaps every day, sometimes spanning 8 or 10 hours and this despite taking great care to wear it "correctly" (being in my interests to do so!). They say that thicker wrists can be a problem but mine are narrow. Hairy wrists? Should I shave my wrists to wear this device? I cannot recommend this and believe that it is a complete waste of money.
This seems a good idea however the blood pressure is taken whilst you are active and in some cases when activity is fairly intense, with elevated pulse rates. The correct monitoring of blood pressure should be near or at rest. This device does not give a useable track of blood pressure and is not a reliable alternative to the normal pressurised arm cuff.Overall very disappointing.
