We had an incredible experience hiking with Nandor from Hungaro Explorer. My partner and I booked two hikes in one day, and Nandor curated each route perfectly to match our skill level. He shared fascinating insights about the local terrain, indigenous plants, and wildlife, turning every step into a blend of education and adventure. He even took photos throughout the day that perfectly captured the effort and joy of the experience.What stood out most was Nandor’s ability to balance challenge with safety. We felt completely at ease, even on the more demanding sections. Between hikes, he brought us to a small local coffee shop on the North Shore, where we got to take in stunning views and support a local business.If you’re visiting any of the Hawaiian Islands and want a guided hiking experience that’s personal, educational, and deeply connected to the land, I can’t recommend Nandor and Hungaro Explorer enough. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip.

I recently did a solo trip of Oahu and wanted to do some cool but hard hikes and was apprehensive of doing them alone. Nandor and his team at Hungaro Explorer made this experience beyond amazing! I booked two hikes - one for sunrise views and another to check out the jungle/waterfalls of the island. Nandor made the experience seamless. He organized the transportation, itinerary, even bought some gears that I didn’t have and would have required on the hikes. These hikes were quite treacherous and I wouldn’t recommend folks doing them by themselves unless they are seasoned hikers. Nandor made me feel super safe, gave me lots of tips around scrambling, climbing etc that helped me immensely during the hike. From the moment you meet him, you can tell he is a very experienced mountaineer and hiker. He also bought his own camera to take some awesome shots for me. Knowing that he also worked for the local search and rescue team, gave me a lot of confidence. Thanks Nandor for the awesome experience! I’m definitely coming back for some more cool experiences with Hungaro Explorer.

Nandor is a 10 out of 10. I could not have designed a better guide/host/traveling companion for my solo Oahu sunrise hike. He has a cheerful attitude and his enthusiasm for hiking is infectious. He checked with me regularly to make sure I was content and to see if there was anything he could do for me. I’ve been an avid hiker all my life, but as my body gets older, navigating sections with tricky footing is getting more challenging. This trail required steep scrambling in spots, and Nandor scouted the best footholds and patiently guided me ahead. (I’m glad I thought to bring a trekking pole.) We made it to near the top in time to see a spectacular sunrise.Nandor has had many interesting experiences and is a good conversationalist, which helps if it’s a long hike. I highly recommend his hikes. Mine was a highlight of my Oahu trip.
Literally the best experience ever! Nandor makes the hike a totally amazing experience. He has supplies if you need something. He has experience to ensure you’re prepared. He is super easy to talk to and makes the hike feel as though you’re hiking with someone you’ve known for years. I will absolutely do more hikes with Nandor! A forever customer here!
I’m a solo traveler and I wanted to do hikes in Hawaii that requires someone experienced and knowledgable about the trails I wanted to hike in and since I am a woman, I needed someone safe and professional as I was traveling by myself. I came across Nandor and let me tell you, he is the best guide you’ll ever have. I booked 4 days of customized tours with him and it was more than what I expected. He is super flexible as well which I really loved. He also will give you information about your hike, takes awesome pics and videos and just all around fun to be around with.
