If I could give them a minus score, I would. Shockingly poor. I made it clear several times in the call I had a heart attack and was still being monitored, and now 2 other life changing issues had come up that I was under investigation for. I called Irvings today for help (Liverpool office at 15:23hrs UK) in relation to what had happened.

I had handed over a USB with personal data and my DNA profile to my doctor's reception for my doctor, along with a covering note detailing my symptoms and an empty bottle of supplement I have had a bad reaction to in a sealed bag and asked for it to be passed to him in relation to my ongoing care and a consultation I had the night before. It was confirmed this would be done. The USB, my data, note, and DNA profile have disappeared and although yesterday they said they knew who it was, today they are saying they don't know. The doctor got the bottle but is now saying he cannot remember who showed him the bottle. They seem disinterested in the missing USB and personal data but I think its because they know who has it. They have shut down and I am now worried about my care.
The response I got from this firm was
- I have explained everything to you and its not my fault you don't understand it. (I have 2 Masters degree and a member of MENSA at age 13, I think the fault lies elsewhere)
- It didnt matter about the missing USB and files as no-one could do anything with or use my personal data or DNA data anyway. ?????? Not the point. Also not true.
- I hadn't got a claim, so I asked why. It seems he didn't like that.
- He said I hadn't suffered a loss?! I have been left in the middle of monitoring a condition resulting in a heart attack 4 years ago while investigating 2 other issues arising from symptoms and blood tests in the last year, and the DNA results could shed light on my care and save my life. I asked for clarification on what constitutes a loss as isn't the major loss in healthcare, your health? How do I show a significant financial loss? This is when I got the extremely nasty cut off "I have explained everything to you and its not my fault you don't understand it." Knowing I have a heart condition and under stress presently.
- When I had told him what I was doing eg a complaint to the practice manager, or reporting to the Information commissioner, he only repeated that I should do what I just said I was doing. Free consultation? You get exactly what you pay for with this firm.

I entrusted my personal DNA data files, and a note to my doctor concerning my care, to a receptionist in a locked down area who is dealing with patients' personal data, and it disappeared.

She opened the bag personally addressed to the doctor, and took out the bottle, but decided of her own volition to get involved and interfere with my case/care and stole/ kept back/held onto/threw out the USB and data/DNA files, and note to the doctor. I read this was a crime and was going to report it to the police. This solicitor just parrot fashion repeated to report it to police.

Why is this not a 'case' of data breach? I might not be the first. What is she doing with it? Where is my USB and doctors letter now? Who is seeing it. I am extremely stressed and now getting chest pains. The response of this firm was essentially, you're stupid and it doesn't matter. ZERO compassion or empathy.

Mathew McConville is not someone who…

Mathew McConville is not someone who can be trusted. He agreed to take a sensitive police negligence claim for my daughter but provided no meaningful communication between January to September 2025. We eventually found out that he requested a time extension from the police, stating that the parents were waiting to get a medical report. He never informed us of this nor asked us to get one. After wasting months of our time, he sent an email stating he wants to withdraw from the case. It seems his only aim was to get the Legal Aid money under my daughter's name and do absolutely nothing. Avoid this firm.Updated 03.12.25In your reply you haven’t answered why you lied to police that parents are waiting to get medical evidence when we didn’t know anything about it. Also your counsel firm advised to get medical evidence and Mathew McConville took the legal aid and didn’t get the medical evidence from forensic psychiatrist and now withdrawn saying less than 50%. Your firm will face the legal consequences for cheating the special need child and the police. You have responded very quickly on this occasion. However, from January to November we sent multiple reminders requesting case updates, and during that period we received inadequate responses only once every two or three months.

Helped me get justice against the police

They took care of my wrongful arrest claim with the most care and kindness on a no win no fee basis as I was a student at the time they helped me every step of the way providing a dr to help get a mental health assessment and my solicitor Matthew made sure to explain everything fully to my understanding ensuring I understood everything that was happening every step of the way, thanks to Matthew we didn’t end up going to court and managed to settle, it wasn’t us much as we were expecting to win to begin with but due to Matthew’s due-diligence he managed to increase the settlement offer and also made sure I’d take home a number that I was happy with even if it was at his expense. Fantastic service and I would recommend anyone going through similar hardship to get in touch with them. It may have taken some time to get there but knowing that u could trust Matthew and his team to get a result definitely helped.

They give out force information if they don't like the sound of your voice then when you try back your chat they hang up the phone and say your rude. All of this is facts because they chose not to take full story. And they have every right to not take my work but not give me force information based on only listening to half and then when you call back to make a complaint they want to be rude back. They heard my voice and attitude changed straight away

Mathew McConville is not someone who…

Mathew McConville is not someone who can be trusted. He failed to monitor our claim properly and allowed our defendant to dissolve. He withheld our case file and destroyed our claim with his negligence. We dont think he actually worked our case even though he was the fee earner, we think someone less qualified did and this is why he manufactured information and tampered with documents to hide the negligence when the legal ombudsman investigated him.Its also very interesting that some of the positive reviews on here can be cross checked to other online resources and the names seem to be associated with him. Could it be he has asked for people to make positive reviews to inflate his ego ? you decide.Ian Kyle is another one who cannot be trusted, he wrote a review of our case which was later proven to be fabricated. These two are both under investigation by the SRA and the ICO has taken an interest in the tampered documents and other general GDPR non compliance. Interesting they claim to be GDPR experts when they themselves have already been found not to have complied with the GDPR and are again under investigation.Just today we've heard again from the legal ombudsman about their negligence and we expect to hear from the SRA and the ICO shortly. This company should be avoided. There are plenty of others out there, dont run the risk of using this company and hoping it will work out.** Update 27/05/2025 Irvings were invited to put matters right, but didn't even answer the request. They were found not to have complied with the GDPR and instructed to comply within 14 days, but it took them more than three months and several chases and even then still withheld data triggering another report to the ICO.They were contacted by the SRA following a report of non-compliance and instructed to comply. The ombudsman found them guilty of several service failings. The investigation even discovered documents that had been retrospectively created and other false documents submitted to try and change the facts. The directors of the company have been reported to companies house along with evidence showing their "unfit to be directors".They might protest, but the fact is their failure to manage our claim and then their invented information to conceal their behavior meant our claim could not be pursued. There have even been talks with the police about allegations of crimes against the computer misuse act. All this can be substantiated with independent documents, not created by Irvings or tampered with. They don't like honest reviews, they refute anything that doesn't agree with their point of view.If this honest review can deter at least one person from using this awful company then that will be a good thing. Its time to hit them in their pocket as that is the only thing they place any importance on.

Police data breach - Won

Matthew McConville from Irvings Law recently supported me through a data breach claim against my local police force. After trying to fight this on my own and having difficulties with the police force, Matt made the process a breeze. He was professional and friendly at all times and always had time to answer any of my questions in a timely fashion. Thank you again Matt for your support, and most importantly, winning my case.
