I was looking for a European alternative to Google Photos and, after extensive testing of various cloud providers, I ended up with Jottacloud.
Their apps are very clear and user-friendly. They offer the functionality I mainly used in Google Photos. (I also don’t expect a relatively small player to offer the same level of functionality as a big player like Google.)
The speed of the platform is very good and their support has been excellent so far.
It’s also convenient that I can create a folder in my windows file explorer to sync files.
There are still a few small UI optimizations possible here and there, but I have no doubt that this will become a top product in the long run.
Unsatisfactory service experience. The Android applications are not syncing correctly, and I have to reopen the app repeatedly. It’s quite frustrating. The web version shows the same issues, and bulk uploads are not possible. I’ve used other services before, and this one has been the least satisfactory. I’ll give it a few more days; if the problems persist, I will move on.

They advertise Unlimited* storage. However, after reaching 5TB, the speed drops to nearly 0, rendering it ineffective. This so-called unlimited service is quite misleading. They also lack applications for NAS drives. In response to the support team: The speed reduction is mentioned in article 3271114 (you can find it online). I consider this reduction to be nearly 0*. Just like the service uses the term Unlimited*.
I would appreciate a GUI client for Linux. Guides for running the command line on immutable Linux distributions would be helpful, especially ensuring access to the entire file system. In photo albums, I seek support for subfolders to organize trips or specific days within a My Vacation album.
