Kickstarter, whilst originally a noble idea, appears to have become a haven for scam artists and sadly the owners of Kickstarter just don't seem to care. There are more and more stories about projects that never come close to fruition or to keeping their promises of the perks that people have invested money towards. Ultimately Kickstarter claim to have no power once the money has been collected (minus their commission of course) and they are very quick to shoot down questions over inconsistencies in their project verification process. Really poor communication for such a high profile online presence too, mostly generic responses pointing towards their T & C's. I will never use their site again.
Fraudulent practices, out of 8 pledges I have only received one, some close with no updates and others keeps making promises they clearly cannot keep.Kickstarter and Indiegogo for that matter needs to be shut down as they are just as much to blame for the fraud that's going on on this site as the creators.
While I've had some success backing numerous campaigns on Kickstarter, I've lost over $1000AUD on projects that never eventuated, or as a result of some scam (ie. Tiko). Unfortunately Kickstater doesn't protect its backers, nor even care if projects fail outside of their t&c's.
