I arrived at the Klass Wagen agency at Madeira Airport with a perfectly valid Visa card, in my own name and as the main driver.The card was refused for a rather surprising reason: it allegedly did not show my “full name”, only one first name, whereas my identity card includes several.As a reminder, a bank card almost always displays only the usual first name and the family name. This difference is completely normal and well known to all banking institutions. Despite this, the deposit – and therefore the rental – was blocked.The result: wasted time, unnecessary stress upon arrival, and the unpleasant feeling of being confronted with a rule pulled out of a drawer at just the right moment. The only solution offered was to buy their insurance, in addition to the one already paid through Booking, for almost the same price as the rental itself.Everyone can judge for themselves, but as far as I’m concerned, I would not describe this experience as… satisfactory.
I was unable to pick up my car because Klass Wagen don't accept Amex. They told me to phone e-dreams to resolve it, who in turn told me to buy the costly but private insurance of Klass Wagen. They refused even to do that. They kept my money and left me stranded. Never Again
Company chosen by the 'pseudo-good-price' which was a trap at the end.- Company policy explained at pick-up:. hits more than 1mm are charged per unit. hits at the door level: +1000Eur charge. hits in other places: +600Eur charge. rental for 10 day with full insurance 600Eur- Old car (107000km) full of hits and dents (paint off) and smelled. - Car delivered with 'full tank' but the first fuel bar went off 4km after pick-up. Mentioned this at check-out but no refund nor even interest about it.- An engine alarm popped 4/5 times about anti-pollution system. - The windscreen wiper had no water.- Located very far away from the airport- At the end, the price was more expensive than AVIS or EUROPCAR at the airport desk. - Conclusion: My first and last time with this company. Maybe this is legal but shouldn't be allowed as it is a clear scam to customers.
I rented a vehicle from Kass Wagen via Booking.com for an amazing price: € 9 Eur for 5 days. Also decided to purchase an insurance suggested by Booking for an extra € 35 Eur. At the time of pick, the store employee (Rodolfo) insisted that I should purchase the Klass Wagen insurance for about € 42 Eur per day! Rodolfo claimed that my insurance wouldn't cover for any damages unless I presented a police report (not true) and that any administrative costs would also not be covered (also not true). I trusted my instincts and decided not to go for his suggestion. Upon delivery it was discovered that there was a small chip in the windshield and Klass Wagen withheld € 670 Eur in my credit card to cover the repair costs and administrative charges. I contacted booking.com, filed a claim, sent them all the paperwork required and voila: I was payed back the full amount. I feel that Rodolfo's attitude was very unprofessional and it made me feel that Klass Wagen is not transparent with their word. My advice is: be sure to purchase Booking.com insurance.
