I tried this service based on a coworker's suggestion, but my experience did not meet the expectations set by the platform’s policies. Upon arrival, I found a trash bag in the kitchen, which contradicts the professional cleaning promised before check-in. Additionally, the bed linens had an unpleasant odor that disrupted our sleep. The platform claims to provide fresh linens for each stay, but the sheets did not reflect that. When I raised the issue, I was informed that the cleaning team couldn't find the fresh linens left for us. This doesn’t excuse the unusable linens at check-in. Although the reservation was for two adults, only one towel was provided. After contacting support, I was told they would check on new towels, but there was no timely follow-up. Photos were sent as proof of cleaning, but the trash and poor linens contradict that. While the idea behind the service is appealing, the execution and quality control were quite lacking.
I tried this app based on a coworker's recommendation, but my experience was far from what the platform's policies promised. Upon arrival, I discovered a trash bag left in the kitchen, which contradicts the supposed professional cleaning before check-in. Moreover, the bed linens had a strong, unpleasant odor that disrupted our sleep. The platform claims fresh linens are provided for each stay, but the sheets certainly did not meet that standard. When I raised the issue, I was informed that the cleaning team couldn't locate the fresh linens as they had been sent to the homeowner and should have been left visible. This excuse doesn't change the fact that the linens at check-in were unusable. The reservation was for two adults, yet only one towel was provided. After contacting the support team, I was told they would check on new towels, but there was no timely resolution. Photos were later sent as proof of cleaning, yet the trash in the kitchen and the state of the linens tell a different story. While the concept of the app is appealing, the execution and quality control were quite disappointing.
I began looking into this after they reached out to me years after my initial application, and quickly realized this is a private equity venture, not a real community. I sent a polite request to delete my personal information and account, as there seemed to be no option within the app. I received a notification of a reply, but when I tried to log in, I found I couldn't access my account anymore. There's no contact number, and they still have all my personal information. It feels like a dangerous situation—don't put yourself at risk like I did. They present themselves as a community-focused platform, but their actions suggest otherwise, following the same problematic patterns seen in other major companies. It's a complete scam.
I’m currently staying in Barcelona and am incredibly disappointed with the response from the service regarding a clear violation of their own property requirements. According to their standards, every home should have a fully functional kitchen, yet my current stay lacks essential items like pans and a water cooker. I reached out to the support team, but they have been unhelpful and offered no relocation or solution. Has anyone else faced this issue? Is the service becoming more like a generic rental platform without the promised quality control? A warning to others: don’t assume the support team will assist you if the property doesn’t meet the requirements.
This is a complete scam. I paid a hefty annual fee, and just a month later, they changed their policy entirely. I requested a cancellation, as I wouldn't have subscribed under these new terms, but they directed me to their fine print, which states they can change policies at any time. There’s a lot of frustration about this online, including from hosts who faced significant issues—like having their properties damaged with only three days' notice.
I want to mention that the support team is quite impressive. Their home protection program handled my two unpleasant incidents with significant damage efficiently, and I was surprised by their quick responses. However, my main concern lies with the guests. Many treat it like a budget alternative to a home exchange community. I now only accept guests with solid history and badges to ensure they’re genuinely interested in home exchange, not just looking for a cheap stay. The platform could do more to maintain a true community of individuals who want to exchange homes rather than becoming a discount hotel option.
I wouldn't recommend this. Their claims about taking better care of my home than their own proved untrue; I experienced significant damage due to a cleaner and a guest. The service only offered a third of the refund. It's unfortunate because I love the concept, and booking other people’s homes for a lower price is appealing, but with all the stress and cost involved, it's not worth it.
I was excited to start hosting with this service, especially for their professional cleaning. I left my house uncleaned per their instructions for an upcoming guest. Unfortunately, my guest canceled just a day before their booking. I learned that the cleaners were no longer coming, and the guest gets most of the cleaning fee back, even with a last-minute cancellation. I feel let down, as I followed all the instructions and now have to find a new cleaner with little time and cost. Why should hosts suffer when guests cancel? This policy is unreasonable. This was my first hosting attempt, and I'm very disappointed.
