Thank you Many Tears and your wonderful Fosterers

Two and a half years ago, my daughter sent me details of a totally shut down cocker spaniel called Windy, and so my many tears journey began. I applied and underwent a telephone interview and a thorough home check that involved making some alterations to my garden. That done we set off to collect my first rescue who was in foster in Wakefield. Three months later I saw another ex breeder on the website and I knew she would fit right in so I applied. Another thorough home check as this girl was considered to be a high flight risk and some fencing was raised for added security. This girl was also in foster, this time in Essex and her foster mum spoke with me on the phone a few times before we made the journey. This girl had been let down and so we had to get it right. We travelled to Essex, fell in love and came back with our beautiful girl. Adopting from foster through Many Tears means there’s always someone that knows your dog really well and can give you advice based on knowledge and experience. Two years on and I still share our joys with the wonderful foster mums. Thank you

Where the right match is the objective

I have been fortunate enough to adopt two beautiful dogs previously from Many Tears and am about to collect my third. I have nothing but praise and appreciation for the tireless work and exceptional care that Many Tears put into the rescue and care of the animals. The utmost care to match the dogs with the homes that will be the right ones for both the dogs and the owners is evident. Rehoming ex breeding dogs is far from straightforward. There is a lot of work undertaken by teams of hard working people all with the care and welfare of the dogs being their priority. Finding the best match does inevitably mean that people can be disappointed. It is when people face disappointment that they can become the most spiteful. I can only review based on my experience of adopting hence my well deserved five stars.

Giving dogs a life worth livingI have written a review previously

I have written a review previously, this review is from my elderly parents ( both in their 80s)They adopted a cocker nearly two years ago as they already had another rescue cocker at home.A thorough interview to assess their background, including support and their initial choice was considered too nervous, however a second cocker was deemed perfect. Some fencing in the garden needed to be raised and we set off to Many Tears for the meet and greet. All went very well and home she came. Thank you Many Tears

Thank you for saving my girls.

I have been lucky enough to adopt 2 rescued ladies from ex breeders who came via Many tears. On both applications I found the process thorough and fair. Both foster mums were lovely, giving me time to introduce my resident dog to the new addition to our family. Both of my rescue ladies have settled and are happy. They both still jump at loud noises or cower if they are surrounded by too many people, but I assume their early life still causes them slight anxiety. Its about time abusive breeding of these poor animals is banned. I only have admiration for anyone that saves animals from distress. Thank you MTAR and the many wonderful foster carers (cherrie in Essex with Rusley, now Tilly and Silvia I think, in Buntingford who had Dixieland, now Dixie 7 years ago). Both girls are happy and living life by the sea.

Dolly…

We adopted our beautiful little Cavachon, formerly M.T. Trick and now our darling Dolly, through Many Tears Animal Sanctuary and the whole experience was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. We worked with an incredible fosterer who truly went above and beyond. She carried out all of the proper checks, kept us fully informed, and made the entire process smooth, supportive, and reassuring. It was clear how much she cared about Dolly’s wellbeing and finding her the right home.Dolly is very much a little project dog — timid, unsure, and clearly having had a tough start in life as a breeding dog. But we fully understood her brief and were matched perfectly. Having never adopted before we didn’t realise the importance of having our resident dog, Coco to help her learn gently how to be a dog, and every small step she takes feels like a huge victory. She’s already brought so much joy into our home.We are incredibly grateful to Many Tears Animal Sanctuary for trusting us with this precious little soul. If anyone is considering adopting, especially a dog who needs patience and understanding, we cannot recommend them highly enough. They change lives — including ours.

Long live Many Tears

I adopted my first MT ex breeder in 2019, a scared shut down Bichon.I underwent rigorous checks on myself my home and current dogs . I was so impressed with the experience and how efficent and caring the rescue are I adopted a further 3 ex breeders over the next few years again having to complete the same checks to ensure my circumstances remained the same.I have visited the centre ,visited foster homes and each time was treated with the same kindness, respect ,politness and care that is given to everyone involved with MT including the dogs, cats horses, donkeys. I eventually decided to foster for this wonderful charity and have never looked back since. I have never been concerned about any of the protocol ,procedures or policys of MT. In fact as a fosterer I have 24/7 support from an excellent team at the centre who work extremely hard keep the centre running smoothly.I lost 2 of my adoptees this year through old age and know full well that had MT not rescued them they would have not had the lovely life they had with me. I am currently fostering 2 gorgeous dogs in my home along with my 3 resident dogs and have undergone an updated home check as a fosterer.inline with MT fostering policy . How anyone can not see the excellent care from everyone from volunteers ,staff and fosterers up to Sylvia and Bill themselves is beyond me . There will always be negative reviews ,thats part of life but they are not needed on this wonderful charity.Long live Many Tears !!!

My adoption experience …

Over the last ten years I have adopted 3 westies from Many Tears ,the last being in January of this year (2025) . I have had no problem with applying for any of them ,as I have always had a resident dog . These dogs need another dog in the home as they have never known anything other than the company of dogs ,most don’t trust humans and they rely on the dog/dogs that are already in the home to teach them that humans can be kind and trusted .My dog’s fosterers have always been amazing and more than willing to help in anyway they can, they care so much for the dogs and want the very best for them .Many Tears are always available if you need help and there is a dog behaviourist who can be contacted if you have a problem you wish to discuss .What people need to realise is most of the dogs need time and patience to settle in their new homes ,this can take time .I have found that Many Tears care deeply about their dogs and only want the best for them ,I am deeply grateful that I was accepted when I applied for my girls and would not hesitate to adopt from them again .

My two lovely Many Tears girls...

I have rehomed two rescue dogs from Many Tears in the last year. From my initial application to rehoming, the process was very informative and always with the dogs best interests at heart. Both my girls had come from a puppy farm in Ireland and both very shut down.We had access to a behaviourist in dealing with any concerns or worries and both foster mums were fantastic ( Billie and Iona).Reading some of these reviews is very upsetting and does not reflect the rescue or staff who work hard to rescue these poor animals from dreadful circumstances and ensuring they go to a loving home that is suited to both human and animal. They deserve so much support, rather than negativity.
