I purchased the 2024 Marin Alpine Trail Carbon 1 mainly for the frame. A couple of observations: I installed a new set of carbon cranks and encountered obstacles on the trail. After switching to a shorter crank length, it improved the ride. I'm considering going even shorter. I'm not sure why I hit so many obstacles, as this bike is similar to my others. The geometry is enjoyable; I'm 5'11" and only the large size was available. I wish I had waited for the extra-large size for better handling on steep terrains. Overall, it performs well. However, the bent seat post restricts the dropper post length, preventing me from lowering the seat enough for downhill rides. It's relatively lightweight, but I find the sizing a bit smaller than I prefer. I'm contemplating purchasing an extra-large to replace it, but that's a significant expense I'm hesitant to commit to.
