I gave 4 stars because there’s always room for improvement. I can say what has made my first year with Mastering.com’s Reverse Engineer program worthwhile has been the dedication that the instructors and staff have towards making the program worth the time and money spent. With daily mentorship calls, I am never without the use of personalized instruction should I need it. The community is also a great source of information. Useful topics and tutorials that I never even thought to engage in or research can found any day or hour of the week. The hardest and most grueling part so far has been rearranging, testing and treating my room for the Acoustic Truth stage. Funny that it’s also turned out to be the most rewarding as I’m now the only one of my friends or collaborators to have the most accurate mixing environment. Which makes me the guy to work with! My only real complaint is that the mastering exercises in the tutorials could be more broken down and explained a little better; be more bite sized in a way. So they’re less of an obstacle to be overcome and more of an invitation to learn.
I've been in TRE Two years or so. The people here are very Knowledgable, and supportive. The community of members is just Great! I've learned so much here about audio engineering. It's Greatly improved my Mixes, 100% I didn't even know to make a master before I started the program. Its just great to have people you can share your work with so it continues to improve. It has been invaluable to me.
I joined the TRE program about a year ago. I had been watching some of their free content on youtube, and was in need of a thorough approach to be able to produce, mix, and master at a professional level. I've been a composer for 20+ years, but always (and in error) avoided fully embracing the technological side of the job. A year later and countless holes in my understanding of the craft of mixing and mastering have been filled, and better yet, my ability to do the the work is vastly improved, far beyond my expectations. I'm sort of embarrassed by how many fundamental tools (esp frequency and EQ) I didn't really have strong grip on; not like I do now. The crew of teachers, and the community that comes along with, make it easy to learn and grow, and offer plenty of support through group calls. I think my favorite thing so far, and it hasn't been that long, is how it's not a static operation. It changes, adapts to student needs, to what's working and what isn't. Instead of pretending like they've got all the answers and everything figured out, they approach it as a journey, along side us, perhaps a bit further on down the road. It's a solid approach, though like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it.
Mastering.com is AMAZING!!! They taught me from the ground up. I knew nothing about music and instruments and mixing and mastering but they made it so simple. Caleb, Dane, and Jake are probably the best teachers Ive had so far, they are very down to earth and helpful. Caleb is great for mindset and philosophy especially!
I gave a review a while ago on Mastering.com and I would like to ammend that review. The problems I had were due to a slight glitch in the system and it was also across the Christmas period. After speaking to Rob from Mastering.com he explained what had caused the problem. I have to ask for their forgiveness on this one as I think I jumped the gun with the review. All has been resolved, money reimbursed (although they did not have to for the book i purchased). I want to thank Rob and the guys for doing this for me. Mark
The program is pricey but if you are really looking to hone your skills in music engineering this is a solid place to start. The community alone is worth the ticket and mentors are amazing and it’s only getting better. My only regret is not diving in head first when I started the program and utilizing all it has to offer. I am heading into my 2nd year with Mastering.com and couldn’t be happier with the progress I’ve made and the things I never knew I didn’t know prior to the process.
Expensive but no regrets. I’ve been in the program about a year and the improvement I’ve seen in the quality of my work is huge. I’m not yet where I want to be but I have no worries that the team won’t help me get there in time. The mentors are all approachable, knowledgable and cover a wide range of preferred genres. The community itself is also incredibly friendly and welcoming. The coursework itself is detailed, and thoughtful, as well as revised and expanded all the time as the mentors cover more ground or improve the delivery of older content. And constant access to mentors is simply huge. Just yesterday I was struggling on a track. I was able to jump on a call with a mentor within a few hours of deciding to get help, share my work and receive detailed feedback and advice to unblock me.Finally the team is constantly following up, keeping you accountable to your own progress, but still patient and encouraging. The only thing I would say is that this is not a magic bullet. You have to be both willing, and able, to put in the time, and practice the concepts and techniques they teach.
Great program I'm in! I'm really excited! I have now got a plan how to start and finish my mixes and masterings. Not endless tries and errors...nearly one shot and mixes/masterings are done. Thank all the mentors so much to give insight of their workflows! I'm looking forward to the production module :-)
Have learnt a huge amount from both the free online content and the paid course but the real value comes from the mentoring calls. Even if it’s just listening in on feedback from others’ submissions, there are tonnes of valuable insights to be gained. The threads on the app are also super useful and questions are answered quickly, with lots of contributions from both the mentors and the community. Massively recommended
I’m just a hobbyist who just took a trial to see course content. And I must say that it’s by far the best course an aspiring producer can get.Whether you are a beginner or advanced, you are surely upgrade your knowledge on music production. You could go through youtube videos. But at mastering.com you have professional industry grade music producers who teach their craft via well structured video courses.Further more, you have the opportunity to get on a coaching call with them and get tips on how to improve your music production.I honestly expected a mediocore course, but was suprised by the quality content that this community is offering.Totally worth the monthly subscription for such content.
