Exceptional Care for My Dog During the Holidays

I am visiting family for Christmas and brought along my 5-year-old Patterdale named 'Doug', who has epilepsy. This morning, he experienced two seizures, and I reached out to the after-hours number at 6 AM. The vet I spoke with was incredibly helpful and reassured me on what to do. Earlier in the week, I had also interacted with the receptionist and found both her and the vet to be very supportive. When I relocate closer to family in the New Year, I plan to join this fantastic practice. I am truly grateful for the assistance provided for both Doug and myself.

Wonderful experience

While visiting family for the holidays, my 5-year-old dog with epilepsy had two seizures. I contacted their emergency line and spoke to a fantastic vet who provided guidance and reassurance. Earlier in the week, I found both the receptionist and vet to be very helpful. Once I relocate closer to family, I plan to join this excellent practice. I am grateful for the support they provided to both me and my dog.

Earlier this year, my dog passed away, but the outcome could have been different. The service refused after-hours assistance and was unclear about alternative treatment options, which delayed life-saving care and ultimately led to my dog's passing. I reached out to express my concerns about their practices and the distress caused to my family, yet their response lacked empathy. I contemplated escalating the issue, but knowing they likely have helped others in the past, I held back. Today, I received a reminder for my dog's yearly vaccination despite our extensive correspondence. I believe the practice manager should have ensured my dog's information was removed from their system to prevent further distress. They claim to have reviewed their practices, but I wish for no one else to endure this pain, hence this review as a warning against their lip service.

The vet provided outstanding care. My dog's condition was unusual, but thanks to his guidance and a specific diet, she is recovering without steroids. My local vet, despite being good, couldn't diagnose her correctly even after a scan that suggested a serious issue. The vet reassured us multiple times that our dog did not have cancer but had a gastric ulcer with related problems. Though it was a long journey, we have now made this vet our regular choice, as his clear explanations left us relieved and happy.

Instead of basic tests, he immediately suggested expensive procedures without asking for a detailed history. When I inquired about costs, I was quoted over £900. I felt pressured into unnecessary tests and asked for my dog back, only to be told she was stable but needed sedation. I felt my visit lacked trustworthiness and was financially motivated. I was charged for a brief appointment and treatments while not allowed to be with my dog. After monitoring her at home, she developed stomach issues but is now recovering.
