Primate customers used to have free delivery. This was a major perk and would often overlook that mighty ape was slightly more expensive for the quick and free delivery.

Now every item under $30 pays a delivery charge, even for primate customers. This is for every item - ie add 10x $20 items to your basket and pay 10x delivery fees.

This change will signal the end of the company. Only good thing is they will refund the primate charge when you complain.

Extremely disappointing experience with Mighty Ape Marketplace - such a shame.

I purchased a Dell Precision 3630 clearly advertised as including an NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super graphics card. The computer supplied did not contain the advertised graphics card. The seller later acknowledged that the listing was incorrect.

Despite this being a straightforward “not as described” issue, Mighty Ape has not provided a prompt or decisive resolution. . Instead, I have been repeatedly directed to their internal marketplace process while they “investigate with the seller.” Communication has been slow and resolution efforts have lacked urgency.

More concerning, the seller issued return labels containing inaccurate customs declarations — one declaring the item as a “gift”, and another declaring the value as $1. These declarations did not reflect the true nature or value of the goods.

Using such documentation could have exposed me to risk if questioned by customs authorities, and may have resulted in the shipment being held or delayed for an extended period. I declined to use these labels for that reason.

Purchasing through a major NZ retailer’s marketplace should provide oversight, accountability, and consumer protection. In this case, responsibility has effectively been pushed back onto the third-party seller while I have been left to escalate the matter myself. 8 days on, no resolution and Mighty Ape is not responsive.

Based on this experience, the marketplace’s lack of responsiveness and its handling of my statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act is sufficient for me to shop elsewhere in future.

Full of scam sellers. Don't use for big ticket items. I have been scammed twice through here - the first time I let it go because I couldn't be bothered but this time, chargeback, disputes tribunal and and Commerce Commission. Highly recommend you all do the same and don't let them hide behind 3rd party sellers that they approved - marketplaces have legal obligations to be safe.

Extremely Disappointing Experience

I ordered a product that was supposed to arrive in 3 days and pre-ordered another for mid-January. When my product didn't arrive and I didn't receive an email notification about the delivery, I reached out to customer support. It was shocking to find out that there was no record of my order, even though I had received a confirmation email and order number after payment. I can't understand how this could happen if I was issued a unique order number. The support team refused to place my order again and insisted I create a new account to make another purchase, which seemed absurd since they were going to refund me anyway. It has taken over a month and several follow-up emails just to initiate the refund process, and now I can't even buy the original product I wanted because it's no longer available. Overall, a frustrating experience that has wasted my time, and I will not be returning.

Quick payment, frustrating delivery.
I noticed that while it took two and a half weeks for my order to arrive, the payment was processed from my account almost instantly, within a day of placing the order. Quite the difference! If there had been a place on the website or order page to provide my Post Office Box number instead of my address, I could have avoided rushing home to be present when the courier seemingly attempted delivery twice. Eventually, I learned that the company doesn't handle the shipping directly. The phone cover I ordered actually came from another seller. Once I reached out to them, things improved significantly. Unlike the previous company, this seller had the courier contact me, allowing me to arrange delivery to my PO Box at a convenient time. What a stark difference between the two services. It's time to improve your processes!

The Decline of a Once Great Service

Since the recent acquisition, the overall experience, service, and product quality have significantly deteriorated. Basic services are still offered, but everything else has declined. Phone support is no longer available, and issues with the website and user interface have increased dramatically. Price matching is no longer an option, and paid gift card and wrapping services have been eliminated. International deliveries were previously seamless, but now they are limited to domestic orders, which have also faced disruptions. The sign-in process has become a hassle, requiring repeated attempts to access my account. Many features, such as currency conversion and wish lists, are absent. Frequent issues arise, and it took me considerable time just to log in. I used to rely on this service for my holiday needs, but this year, even that has been impacted due to stock shortages. Having been a loyal customer for 15 years, I am deeply disappointed by the decline in quality since the change in ownership.

Mighty ape is scam

The website appears to be a scam. I attempted to purchase a product, only to discover that it had to be shipped from overseas, resulting in a 15-working-day delivery timeframe. Additionally, I made a full payment to Mighty Ape via PayPal. However, I found that they had configured my PayPal account for another automatic payments of $89 on three separate occasions without my authorization. I caution others to be wary of Mighty Ape, as my experience suggests it may be a fraudulent operation.

Most worst shop in new Zealand now its run by kogan and delivery has taken me 3 weeks so far this is second time in a row now the customer service dosent care and are useless they tell you not to send multiple enquiries but you have too of you wont get any response I really hope my package turns up soon feel ripped by the waiting times so far 😢

Terrible experience with this shop

This shop has become the worst in the area since it was taken over by the new management. My delivery has been delayed for three weeks, and this is the second time it has happened. The customer service is unhelpful and indifferent; they advise against sending multiple inquiries, but that's the only way to get a response. I'm really hoping my package arrives soon, as the long wait has left me feeling very frustrated. 😢
