Review Time
Use a clean cloth to clean the new screen.
Be more transparent with time. I know you said you want the car for 4 hours but the job wasn't started for 2 hours. Its a taxi and I missed the whole morning. Booked it in for 8am.
CCTV was hanging off when I picked the car up. Both cameras are alot lighter than a mirror so couldn't understand why the pads weren't holding.
Really not that happy.
Turned up with the wrong glass on the first occasion. Second booking driver called me in the morning to give me a time then 10 mins prior left a message to say he is now unwell and someone would call to rebook for another day.
Long time holding to get through to someone. Repair done in the end but took a lot of time.
I went to the bristol branch and they refused to do it as there was some silicone that was easy to peel off with a razor bit refused ...so i went to Gloucester branch and they were really good and did a great job
I went to their depot because it was raining too hard for a home call out. They were expecting me, even though I was early. They quoted an hour and were done in 45 minutes.
All courteous and helpful. Free wi-fi appreciated while I waited in the warm and dry.
Thank you.
Had my window screen replaced and they broke my key in the lock, which they tried gluing back together without telling me. I had to wait 6 hours at the garage, then had to wait an extra 2 hours for someone to come and sort my key out. I have no follow up after and then sent me out the invoice
Very disappointing service. I had my windscreen changed as part of my Hastings Direct insurance. On post fitting inspection there was a large area of paintwork missing on the passenger side frame in addition to two large chips and a knife scratch on the driver's side frame. The fitter however claimed there the damage was already done and claimed to have photos, though how and when he did this is beyond me. Unfortunately I did not think to take my own photos so it is now my word against his. In light of this I will not now be renewing my insurance with Hastings. I also now have 5mm gaps between the screen and the frame. I would never use this company again.
Good timely service from National Windscreens. One negative comment is that I experienced weird noises coming from the new screen on the day after fitting. This had disappeared by the next day but it would have been good to know it might happen until the silicone had hardened off. Also the screen has marks on where the wrapping had been stuck to the screen. I’m sure it will come off but should have been polished before the car was released.
Kye was the glass technician who replaced the windscreen on my Audi A3, and he did a fantastic job. He was friendly, polite, and genuinely great to have working on my vehicle. Despite challenging conditions with strong winds and heavy rain, Kye remained professional throughout and completed a clean, high-quality installation.
I’ve given four stars only because the tracking system didn’t work properly, so I wasn’t able to see the technician’s location before the appointment — it only updated once the NW van had arrived. Aside from that minor issue, the service itself was excellent.
Thanks very much, Kye — your hard work was truly appreciated.
I drive a Mercedes so after replacing the windscreen there is various tech that needs recalibrating and I was told to allow up to four hours. So I took my work stuff with me and was able to work in the reception area while they worked on my car. They completed the job in only about one hour, which was surprising but pleasing. I was told that Mercedes recalibrations are easy to do.
Since then, my rain sensor stopped working. I contacted them and Josh told me about a reset procedure, which I confirmed online. Unfortunately, it failed to fix the problem. I took it back and they did some tests, which suggested the problem was more complex - it worked if you sprayed water at the windscreen but it failed when driving with actual rain! Josh admitted he didn't know what the problem was but promised to speak to others who might and get back to me.
This is where National Windscreens loses a star. Not only did Josh not get back to me but I was also unable to get through to him. I wanted to do this because a few days later, my rain sensor seemed to magically start working again. I had driven all the way to Nottingham in the rain and the wipers were failing to operate even as a basic intermittent wipe, forcing me to use the manual constant wipe setting. But on the way back home on the same day they worked perfectly. They also worked on the way to work on the Tuesday. That's when I first tried to let them know to discontinue any research they were doing but I got no answer and was diverted to a central booking service, which was not relevant. A couple of days later I received an automated text out of the blue telling me that my parts had been ordered. There was no context. I tried phoning but it was after hours. I did manage to speak to someone who said they would get Josh to phone me the following morning.
I received no call, and in the afternoon I was unable to get through. There may be a perfectly valid explanation for the radio silence but I did feel I was being ghosted because of the problem they were unable to solve.
