I want to start by saying I never leave negative reviews but I don’t want anyone else to find themse

I want to start by saying I never leave negative reviews but I don’t want anyone else to find themselves in the position my husband and I are in. We bought a new home in 2019 and New Homes Law represented us. At this time we had no issues with them. We are now in the process of selling this house and are using different representation. Our buyers solicitors are requesting many documents from us and have said we should have received this via the post shortly after completion. These documents include the planning permission for the house, building regulations as well as several other important documents. We do not have these paper copies and so went through emails from 2019 and NH Law had emailed us to say they no longer post these documents, they add them to the portal. We signed into the portal and the documents aren’t there. The portal shows that our case is 64% complete (due to the missing documents) and that the case was randomly closed 4 years ago (we were not notified of this). We have contacted them and the people we have spoken to have been helpful but the documents we are after are not able to be found. We are now in a position where unless NH Law find this documentation, we can potentially never sell our house. NH Law have told us to go back to our developers. We had already done this and they are saying that they don’t keep documents for this length of time but everything should have been sent to NH Law and ultimately if it wasn’t then NH Law should have represented us properly and requested the documents. We paid a lot of money for a service that we now see is negligent and potentially corrupt (with them closing an unfinished case). We were first time buyers and had no idea what documentation we needed. We were taken advantage of by NH Law - they took our money but did not do the work we paid them to do.

New Homes Law were great in helping me with the purchase on my first home. They made what could’ve been a stressful time very easy. Responses were swift and I was kept informed every step of the way. I would 100% recommend New Homes Law.

I confirm the excellence of New Homes Law. I purchased my first home and entrusted New Homes Law with all the necessary paperwork for the purchase. I was always updated in real time on the current situation. Thanks to the chart provided, I was able to understand what would happen next and the timelines for the procedures. I was contacted daily and guided through the required formalities. After a few weeks, the house was mine and I received the keys, along with the compliments of the entire staff and some very welcome gifts. The assistance will continue throughout the home warranty period, even if the house itself is... perfect. The professionalism, availability, and expertise of New Homes Law are five-star.

New Homes Law is completely unreachable and caused us extreme stress. They ignored every email from both the buyer’s and seller’s solicitors and required multiple chases, and their phone lines go straight to voicemail. Solicitors went on leave without any notice or handover, totally disregarding exchange dates. Estate agent and other law firms involved have reached out multiple times to express their concerns regarding NHL's incompetence but was ignored by NHL. Our seller threatened to pull out of the sale on multiple occassions due to their unresponsiveness. Their lack of accountability nearly ruined our entire move—do not use this firm.

Note: Since posting my last review, NHL has attempted to take down the review twice in one week, which is ironic given this was the more responsive than they ever did during the actual conveyancing process. My intention is to share the views given to me by other professionals – not just my own views.

We used Homes Law England for our purchase and couldn’t fault them. Danielle and her team were great from start to finish. Communication was clear, queries were dealt with quickly, and everything was explained in plain English. The whole process felt well managed and far less stressful than expected. Thanks to Danielle and the team for getting us over the line. Highly recommended.

No complaints with new homes law

No complaints with new homes law, they’ve been really efficient. Maybe at the start communication wasn’t quite what I hoped- just emails and not always replied to that quickly and hard to get through on the phone, but I communicated how nervous and unsure about the whole thing that I felt, and they really responded. Spoke to several people on the phone at different points, and all really friendly and helpful. Bills were itemised in detail, so everything was transparent, plus they were happy to explain costs when I didn’t understand (which was a lot of the time!) Overall I found them very efficient and professional and friendly and trustworthy.

This is now my second one star review for NHL...

This is now my second one star review for NHL, which should tell you everything. My first review covered the appalling service I received during my shared ownership purchase — easily one of the worst professional experiences I’ve ever had. After a year of zero communication from them, delays, and total disorganisation, I completed the purchase and tried to move on.Fourteen months later, I’ve been hit with a bill for nearly £700 for an unsettled service charge from before I even owned the property. Only now has it become clear just how badly NHL mishandled my case. They failed to ensure the service charge account was settled on completion, and they failed to ensure the retention was held until it was resolved — basic, fundamental steps in conveyancing that any competent firm would treat as standard. A genuinely shocking level of incompetence. What makes this even more infuriating is their behaviour since. Instead of answering straightforward questions about missing documentation pertaining to those accounts, they immediately tried to shift blame onto the seller’s solicitors for holding the retention for 12 months — which is completely normal. Then they attempted to excuse themselves by saying the case handler had left the firm, as if that somehow absolves them of responsibility for their own negligence. And now, they’ve simply stopped responding altogether. It’s astonishing to witness a firm operate with this level of incompetence, avoidance, and disregard for their clients. The way they conduct themselves feels more like a back street operation than a regulated legal service. Their so called “customer charter” is meaningless in practice.I would strongly urge anyone considering NHL to avoid this firm like the absolute plague. My experience has been nothing short of disastrous. And by the way, the reason there are so few one star reviews showing is because NHL flag them all and use every tactic in the book to get them taken down. They tried to do that with the first review i left.
