I signed up for a membership over the summer and faced many challenges due to staff errors and ineffective communication. My membership was incorrectly cancelled while staff attempted to apply a student discount. Despite this, I continued to be charged, yet the app wouldn't allow me access to the gym. I received cancellation emails and conflicting messages from different staff members, with some claiming my membership was cancelled while others said it was 'never cancelled.' Instead of properly addressing this, I was told I could only access the gym when staff were available to let me in, which is not what I paid for. My requests for a refund were ignored, and follow-up communications did not resolve the main issue. Overall, the management of this situation was unprofessional and extremely frustrating. I paid for a service I couldn't fully use and would not recommend this gym based on my experience. I had to pursue a refund through my bank, which was a lengthy process. On a positive note, the gym is well-equipped and clean.
I can't really fault the Watford location. They've recently upgraded most of the treadmills. I'm not sure why some people complain about this gym. What do you really expect for such an affordable monthly fee? It’s a budget gym aimed at making fitness accessible for everyone. Yes, it’s not luxurious, but for the price, what do you expect? The environment is safe, everyone keeps to themselves, and the staff are approachable. I personally believe the founder has done a commendable job. No one has compensated me for this review.
This gym is not welcoming for LGBTQ individuals or women. I strongly advise against going here! The management at this location defends their staff, even when their behavior is aggressive and biased. I will never recommend this gym or visit it again! Avoid it!
It's nearly impossible to cancel your membership. Due to a change in my situation, I can no longer attend the gym, and I've been trying since July (now mid-November) to get my membership cancelled. They never respond to emails or act on my requests. I've sent multiple emails with no reply. It's astonishing how quickly they signed me up, but now I can't escape. I've completed the 12-month term, yet I still can't cancel my membership.
It's hard to train comfortably in the gym with so many people filming everything they do. Today, a group took up the entire upstairs area filming from all angles, making it nearly impossible to avoid them. Some of us just want to work out without worrying about ending up in someone else's video, especially with individuals who zoom in on faces if you glance their way. This should not be allowed, especially given how frequent it is.
This gym is okay. It works for me since I just want to get in, do my workout, and leave. However, there are too many young people with their phones around, and it leads to longer wait times for machines. Equipment frequently breaks down, and it takes months to repair them. I don't understand why. On the positive side, I've met some nice people, and the price is reasonable. I’d prefer to pay more for better-quality equipment that actually works. One more thing: the staff is hit or miss. There are a few good ones, but overall, they are quite average and not very helpful.
The cancellation process has been incredibly frustrating. After I submitted my cancellation request, a staff member confirmed the final access date, which I relied on as part of the standard 30-day notice. However, the gym later changed the end date to nearly four weeks later, citing a new internal rule stating that the notice period only starts from the next billing cycle. This rule is the main issue, as it is not mentioned in their official Terms and Conditions. The T&C only require a minimum of 30 days' notice and do not specify when that notice should begin. The gym seems to prioritize an unpublished policy over their own legal T&C and the written confirmation previously provided.
I enjoy this gym, and there’s currently a revamp happening, so some equipment is missing, but I expect it will be replaced soon. It's conveniently located, and overall it's very good. I believe it will be excellent once the new equipment arrives. However, there is a significant issue with people using their phones; it's a real problem. Either get off your phone or get off the equipment. I've had to ask people to move before, but that's not something you should have to do when going in to train. This issue should be addressed promptly. I've seen individuals occupying machines for 15 minutes while scrolling on their phones. When you're at the gym, you should be there to work out, not play on your phone.
They make it extremely difficult to cancel your membership by stating in their terms that you must commit for a minimum of two months and then provide 30 days' notice to cancel. Other gyms allow you to simply cancel your direct debit. I strongly advise against joining this gym; they seem more interested in your money than your well-being. And don’t be tempted by the sauna, as I was; it’s only lukewarm and not hot enough to provide any real benefit. For a proper sauna experience, go elsewhere.
My experience at this gym was incredibly disappointing — it was appalling. The front desk staff were shockingly rude and acted as if they were doing us a favor by acknowledging us. They were aggressive and dismissive towards both me and my partner for no apparent reason. The personal trainers were even worse — unprofessional, lacking respect, especially towards female members. Some behaviors bordered on harassment, which is unacceptable in any environment, let alone a gym. The facility itself is in terrible condition — dirty machines, trash on the floor, broken equipment, and a complete lack of hygiene. It seems no one cares. They charge a monthly fee for a place that doesn't even meet basic cleanliness or safety standards. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. If I could give it a negative rating, I would. It’s a zero out of ten for how bad this gym is. Please avoid it at all costs.
