Review Time
I'm a photographer and have used photo book world wide for a few years now to make my portfolios because I liked their book builder website and they (at the time of my first book purchase) we're one of the only companies to use good quality paper and ink to get nice reproduction off what I was editing on my computer. The most recent book I ordered no longer had the highest quality canon paper and ink as an option, no big deal, I'll use the (previously second highest option now max level) 190 luster with colour boost paper option. The blacks came washed out and most of the photos had a really dull low contrast and blurry appearance. Holding the two books side to side (the canon paper and the luster version) there is a clear and for the price unacceptable difference. I printed a few books of a recent vacation of a lower quality and was actually very happy with the result of that travel book, however for my portfolio which I paid far more for the paper quality and colour enhancements I was extremely disappointed and will likely no longer use this company for high quality work. I would think any photo book where the content is important (photography portfolio, weddings, special events) finding another printing company that uses the highest quality canon paper and ink is a must now that the highest option photobook worldwide offers is not acceptable.
First time ordering from Photobook Canada. The name of the company and the Canadian dollars displayed on the website led me to believe I was ordering from a Canadian Company. After spending a considerable amount, I was alerted via DHL (who has held up my parcel), that there were outstanding import duty taxes! This was an unpleasant surprise for me. Since then the company has reached out to resolve the issue which is very decent of them and I appreciate it! FYI - Magent Photos arrived and they were great!
I have been making photobooks for over 15 years, starting with converting my parents' old slides and photos and writing their stories for my grandchildren to have in book form. When I first began I tried several different companies. Most were ok, but Photobook Canada was the best by far in terms of quality and cost. I've had to use their customer service staff on occasion and have been pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and helpfulness I always receive. I've made over 50 books and have been highly satisfied with them all. I love the many special offers!
