During this visit, I attempted to explain an issue that arose when I went to pick up my prescribed medication from the pharmacy. The pharmacist informed me that the psychiatrist would need to modify the prescription because I am currently taking Lyrica.

When I relayed this information during my appointment, Dr. Lee’s response felt belligerent and accusatory. As a patient, this made me feel uncomfortable and as though I was being questioned or blamed for something that was simply information provided to me by the pharmacist.

During the discussion, Dr. Lee asked me whether I had to take Lyrica. I found this question confusing and unsettling because Lyrica was prescribed by my neurologist, and I have been taking it as directed for some time. In order to clarify the situation, I called my neurologist’s office to verify how long I have been on the medication. However, Dr. Lee expressed frustration and indicated that doing so was taking too much time during my appointment.

Throughout the visit, I felt that I was being treated as though I was withholding important medical information, when in reality I was trying to ensure that my medication information was accurate and complete. I was also asked to provide a full list of medications in a way that felt confrontational rather than collaborative.

Additionally, I felt that my concerns were not fully addressed. The medications were not clearly explained to me, I was not asked whether I had any questions, and the appointment ended without a thorough discussion of my concerns regarding my treatment.

As a patient, I believe it is important to feel respected, heard, and supported during medical appointments. Unfortunately, this interaction left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and discouraged from openly communicating about my care.

I am raising this concern in hopes that my experience can be reviewed and that patient communication and professionalism can be improved moving forward.

I’ve never had a worse experience

I’ve never had a worse experience. My former psychiatrist stopped working at her office and I guess she sold me to these people. I take ADHD medicine and have for decades. I used to see my psychiatrist once a year. PsychPlus+ forces patients to have appts every 4 weeks. No joke. I’m meeting with a NP to tell them the medicine works the same and PsychPlus bills my insurance over $1,000! In addition, they keep trying to charge me $100 for these 90 second virtual phone calls. It’s hard to believe any of this is real, it’s so bonkers. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CREDIT CARD! They have continued to withdrawal my husband and I’s cards for varying amounts, although we have the same insurance and copay. I’m assuming there will be retaliatory action soon and would gladly be apart. Feel free to contact me.

If you want to mental health issues…

If you want to mental health issues exacerbated then book at PsychPlus of Texas. I spent hours reading the bios of their supposedly available doctors. I found what seemed like a great match for me. I booked an appointment with her for her first available time which was a month plus out. The day of the appointment we did a video call. She gave me her complete spill on how she operates about 5 minutes. Only then to tell me she couldn't be my doctor because she doesn't have availability for new patients. Why was I even allowed to book with her if this is the case? Prior to my appointment I received a call from what I thought was a scammer with a thick accent claiming to need a copay up front. I didn't recognize the number and I knew I didn't have a copay so I hung up. PsychPlus is a scam beware!!!

Don’t expect anyone to actually care about your mental health. You’re just a copay.

The psychiatrist I see is fine. The support staff sucks. I have been trying for a month to fill my ADHD meds, but because there is a nationwide shortage, I cannot get the 20 mg timed release capsules I requested the script be changed to 2-10 mg capsules daily for the same total dose of 20 mg. I kept being told that to get a dose change I had to see a provider; I would escalate, get someone who understood the issue, they’d say it would be taken care of- but it never was. I have called SEVEN TIMES to try and get my medication. Then today I asked for a supervisor. I was left on hold for 45 minutes, never spoke to the supervisor, and again they claim they are sending the script to my pharmacy. Additionally they say I have to see someone not my regular provider today instead of seeing my provider on 10/13. This makes no sense, but I’ve given up in hopes of getting my medication. I have been out for a month, and no one there seems to care. Extremely poor customer service. Extremely unprofessional supervisors who leave patients on hold for 45 minutes and NEVER take the call. If I had more widely accepted insurance I would change to another provider, but I’m stuck.
