Review Time
We were picked up at the airport as promised. The driver was polite and professional. He handed us over to the hotel staff who were excellent. Keiko the guide was with us everyday and took excellent care of the group. We had an early flight the last day of the tour, and Keiko saw us off and made sure that we got on the right bus to the airport. We felt that we were taken care of the entire trip, from beginning to end.
I have traveled with Ritz in the past to China and Thailand and both tours were exceptional. The Best of Japan tour was disappointing. It was listed as a moderate paced tour but it was in fact strenuous. Many of us stayed on the bus at times when it was a 15 minute walk just to get to a location. There were no cultural activities and no real shopping availability. Leaving us for 1.5 hours at an outdoor market doesn’t qualify for authentic shopping. The tour guide was not easy to understand. In Kyoto, one day we ended the tour at 2pm and asked to go to Gion and she told us to take a taxi from the hotel. The hotels were excellent.
Tour guy Alan did an exceptional job, the driver David is so awesome, pick up from airport/hotel are on time and friendly, we are not happy with the itinerary, we do feel we spent most of the time on the road, visit time is too rush, check in to a different hotel each day is too much, every two days would be more enjoyable and Ritz Tours should include lunch and dinner. We would not book this tour with Ritz Tours again.
Tour guy Ocean is very helpful during the tour. We are happy and enjoy the trips with the exception of one of the hotel that the AC did not work well. We are not happy with the airline that you’re booking for us, they cancel our seats for early booking which causes we are missing one day of the trip.
Ritz’s Website provides detailed tour information, options, schedule, and updated pricing, It really helps with one’s own research and planning before deciding which tour to join or not. Copying a scheduled tour to make it a private tour is simple. Ritz’s staff are resourceful, friendly, responsive, and professional. From initial engagement to return home from Ritz’s tour, I had a wonderful experience.

Overall, Ritz Tours did a great job with coordinating the activities and transportation. We had a friendly and accommodating tour guide. They don't skimp on the provided meals. The restaurants selected does provide an experience that you wouldn't typically have on your own. The biggest complaint would be the itinerary. There are way too many visits to temples, shrines, and castles. After you've seen a few, they pretty much look the same.
