My recent experience at Salzburg Airport was highly unsatisfactory due to a lack of procedural consistency. I was prevented from taking a salt lamp through security, despite having cleared the same checkpoint with the identical item just 24 hours prior. When I highlighted this discrepancy, the staff’s response—"I was not here yesterday"—was unprofessional and failed to address the arbitrary enforcement of rules. The facility itself is quite limited, but the dismissive attitude of the personnel was the primary issue. I expect a more standardized and courteous level of service from an international airport.

I had a very disappointing experience at Salzburg Airport. The security staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. During baggage control, they refused to allow my salt lamp through — even though I had passed through the same airport with the exact same item just one day earlier without any issue. When I explained this, the only response I received was, “I was not here yesterday.” This is not a proper explanation and shows a complete lack of accountability and consistency. The rules should not change from one day to the next depending on who is on duty. It felt arbitrary and unfair. The attitude of the staff was dismissive and unhelpful, and their communication skills were very poor. Instead of offering a clear explanation, they acted in a way that felt deliberately uncooperative. On top of that, the airport itself is very small and lacks sufficient facilities for passengers. Overall, the service quality and human relations were extremely disappointing. If you have the option, I would strongly recommend avoiding this airport. It was a very unpleasant experience.
Worst airport i have ever been at. Avoid at all cost. Nasty toilettes, horrible systems, slow and old. Completely packed with people, with seating for 1/3 of the people. Sitting on dirty floors, with horrible, uneffective rude staff. Stay away!!
Terminal two is just not a great experience at all. Long queues to check in followed by long queues to get through security then again more queues for passport control and again for food and drink. Seems purpose built for uk travellers as the original terminal was a much better experience. Shame as comes across that they don’t think mich of the British
Check in with Crystal Ski was very good, but the que from there on was ridiculous. My main gripe is with the security personnel and passport control staff, appalling attitude! We have paid good money to visit Austria and local taxes also. Please be courteous and a little more friendly. If you can't do uour job with a smile, perhaps the job isn't suitable. I have found Austian's generally lovely people, super helpful in St Johann, but this is a negative experience before we leave our country, Wales. Come on Saltburg Airport...you can do better!
Terrible airport experience on arrival, in fact the worst ever!Obviously they are gladly taking the money off visitors but the place is way too small, not fit for purposeThe plane actually had to queue on the tarmac as there was no space at the terminal, passport experience was awful but baggage reclaim was farcical. They`ve put in conveyors which feed into each other, too many flights and suitcases so the whole thing is log jammed with cases no where to go!!Passengers were trying to free up space on the conveyors by moving cases round, this while 2 airport staff stood by observing the problem, unbelievable :(
My 83 year old sister in law almost missed her plane due to terribly slow security control. First, there was only 1 hand luggage check belt operating (out of 3!). With three flights leaving within a short period, the queues were extremely long, right out into the departure hall. My sister in law who is a frequent flyer even at 83 had nothing which was not allowed in her luggage, yet she had to unpack her entire bag, including all cosmetics- nothing over 100ml. She almost missed her plane. How dangerous can a 83 year old woman seem?! Shame on Salzburg airport!

is Austria's second largest airport. It serves Salzburg, the fourth-largest Austrian city, and is a gateway to Austria's numerous ski areas, lakes and mountains.
