Rapid Response, Great Service!

At first I was angry my domain came up as a scam - clarkebrands.biz - but with 15 years experience in anti-fraud, it made sense to investigate further and I went from being angry to being thoroughly impressed with the logic. My thought was it made sense for consumers to research and it also made sense to ensure they were getting the best quality information that our business is legit. Thanks again!!

Untrustworthy, has malicious advertisements

They rated a scam site with loads of pop ups to phishing sites as 46/100. Their own website tried to redirect me to a site that my internet defender labeled as malvertisement. This scam detection site, therefore, is pretty scamy if they have scam advertisements, no?

I have been using THIS scam detector for well over 3 years now

I have been using THIS scam detector every single time I think about buying anything on the internet for the past 3 years or more even, and almost every single time they show me that it wouldn't be a wise purchase, and they tell me exactly why and how they came to that conclusion. A few times, they have given the company a great score and said they were not concerned about that website or company, and they were right, I got what I ordered and it was a great transaction. So I checked a website that I had gotten from you tube last Saturday, and inadvertently I put in the wrong website when I checked them out, the one I put in was to hotmail for the payment (and that one got a 100 for a score, which was a true score!) rather than the company selling the product, but I was glad I caught that error, so I went back and got the right website, and sure enough, it was a bad idea to purchase from them! Then I went to the list of scams these guys put out there for scams on specific websites like facebook twitter, etc to see if this one was on there... and thats when I noticed they didn't have one at all for You Tube, so I contacted them to let them know what had happened with a transaction I had almost purchased from a You Tube related video and they replied back very soon and were glad to have my input, and now they are working on putting the needed connection for Youtube on their list with the other social websites too, in order for us to check on people's websites that you get from videos on Youtube as well! I was so glad I wrote to them about it then! I so appreciate these guys more than anyone can ever know! When I use their scam detector, it has stopped me in my tracks at considering a purchase from a not so good company too many times to count! I am so thankful for what they do! I just know they have saved me money and time and the headache of even trying to get my money back, hundreds of times over the years!! I don't ever buy anything from the internet until I check the website through scam-detector.com and never will in the future either. Without checking, I would be throwing my money down the drain probably 90% of the time or more! Thank you so much scam-detector.com, for saving me my money, my time, and the headache. I love you guys!

Data Collector

Scamadviser flagged Scam Detector for potentially dubious services, such as selling social media followers or crypto-related content, which could indicate a profit-driven focus. The website was established in 2010, based on WHOIS data and its own claims.Operates out of Vancouver, Canada, though it serves a global audience. Premium Services: Offers paid subscriptions for advanced features, such as detailed reports or data removal services for businesses flagged as suspicious.Affiliate Partnerships: Likely earns commissions through partnerships with cybersecurity firms like Guardio or other recommended services.- Data Collection: The site collects user data (e.g., IP addresses, browsing behavior) for analytics and may share it with partners, as noted in its privacy policy. Users should be cautious about data privacy when using such platforms.Allegations of Scare Tactics:Some users claim Scam Detector assigns unfairly low trust scores to legitimate websites, creating fear to drive traffic or push paid services. For instance, a Trustpilot reviewer reported their established business receiving a 13.4/100 score, alleging the site demanded payment to improve it.Others describe this as an “extortion” model, where businesses are pressured to pay for score adjustments or data removal.Complaints suggest the algorithm may misjudge newer websites or those with unconventional setups, flagging them as risky despite legitimacy. Some users report difficulty contacting Scam Detector to dispute ratings or seek corrections.Positive reviews praise its user-friendly interface. Negative reviews focus on perceived bias, lack of transparency in scoring, and slow response times.Potential Conflicts of Interest: The reliance on affiliate partnerships and premium subscriptions raises concerns about impartiality. ex., promoting Guardio heavily could skew recommendations.Domain via WHOIS lookup, Registered: 2010, Registrar: GoDaddy, Likely hosted in the U.S. or Canada, with Cloudflare used for security and performance.Limited options for businesses or individuals to challenge inaccurate ratings.Allegations of leveraging low scores to upsell services undermine credibility.Like many online tools, it collects user data, which may be shared with third parties, raising privacy concerns.Allegations of unfair scoring, extortion-like tactics, lack of transparency, inaccurate assessments, and privacy concerns. These issues have sparked distrust among some users, especially small business owners and webmasters, who feel their reputations are unfairly harmed.Numerous users, business owners, report that Scam Detector’s Website Validator assigns unfairly low trust scores (e.g., 13.4/100 or 58/100) to legitimate websites, labeling them as “suspicious” or “risky.” Critics allege this is a deliberate tactic to pressure businesses into paying for score improvements or data removal, resembling extortion. The recurring theme is that new or small businesses, which often have newer domains or lower traffic, receive disproportionately low scores. The low scores can damage reputations before corrections are made. The lack of clarity on how scores are calculated fuels perceptions of predatory behavior. The Website Validator’s scoring algorithm is proprietary and not fully disclosed, leading to accusations of arbitrariness and untrustworthiness. Users question how factors like domain age, SSL status, or blacklisting are weighted and whether human oversight is involved. The lack of a clear appeals process or detailed methodology exacerbates this issue.Automated tools like Scam Detector’s rely on heuristics, which can misinterpret legitimate practices (e.g., WHOIS privacy, new domains, or low traffic). Without transparent criteria, users can’t assess the validity of scores, and the tool’s claim of “intelligent algorithms” feels hollow when results seem inconsistent or overly generalized. The Website Validator is criticized for mislabeling legitimate websites as scams, particularly startups, niche businesses, or sites with unconventional setups. This can lead to reputational harm and lost sales. Critics argue that Scam Detector’s website is designed to generate revenue through ads, affiliate links (e.g., Guardio), and premium services, prioritizing profit over accuracy or user trust.Scam Detector’s Website Validator and broader platform face significant negative feedback for unfair scoring, lack of transparency, inaccurate assessments, privacy concerns, and perceived profit-driven motives. Small businesses are particularly vulnerable to reputational harm from low scores.
