Review Time
Property was as advertised, very spacious and comfortable and all descriptions very accurate. Would book through this company again if we return to Ireland again, prices reasonable and accommodation was lovely. Communication from company very good and all information received in timely manner,
We do not take it lightly to write a review that emphasizes the weakness of a property, but perhaps this will ensure no other occupant faces these issues. Ensure the property is throughly cleaned in between occupancy. Ensure the cutlery and crockery is also throughly cleaned with no residue food stains. Ensure the oven is cleaned with no left over food from previous occupant. These were issues for us. Would suggest pillow protectors as pillows left for us were covered in stains. We ended up not using them. Have equipment that is in good working order. First night fridge temperature rose to 14 degrees. All food purchased had to be thrown out. We would suggest upgrading fridge, microwave and cooker. We would recommend a coffee machine. We would recommend Bulbs replaced when missing rather than us advising and being told were spare were and for us to change. Advise if things such as a broken window frame in property is in fact broken ahead of visit rather than leaving us to discover and report. Ensure drawers are cleaned out in bedrooms. Broken cigerette left in one drawer. I would add when we spoke with owner reference fridge she advised she would someone to look at fridge and or get a new one installed. The fridge after we added a bucket of ice to it nightly did sit at normal temperatures. Also the owner did advise she would send her cleaning person around but with our personal items in the house we didn't want this. We expected the house to be clean upon arrival. Overall the advertising of the property and its items within was misleading on our part. We were extremely disappointed in our stay. We left the property 3 days before we were due to leave because of this. All this really impacted our family holiday.
We're just home after spending a week in Kinvarra Thatch Cottage in Co. Galway. The cottage was excellent, very clean, very comfortable and the host David and his wife were very welcoming, very friendly and very knowledgeable about the county and surrounding counties. The cottage has been tastefully modernised without detracting from it's "Irishness" and authenticity dating back to 1780. If buildings could talk, this little cottage could give history lessons from The Battle of the Diamond (1795), the 1798 Uprising, an Górta Mór (The Famine) and all the way through to the Easter Rising of 1916, the partitioning of Ireland and the War of Independence. We can find nothing bad to say about this cottage and we have stayed in many over the years! All we can say is a massive "Go raibh míle maith agat" to our hosts - The Mahons!!!
