What went wrong? Easier to say what went right. I currently have about 7 or 8 cars with them - mostly classics. Poor quality repair. Very poor communications. Initially they wanted me to take car to Gold Coast for repair - I live near Sunshine Coast! Trying to talk to them was horrible and always long wait times. Elevated the poor service to their management. Had to follow them up as nothing happened then the senior executive comes back with "I know nothing". They sent two letters from supposed same person with very different signatures. They were supposed to provide a hire car. However they only approved that after my car was fixed so I was without transport while me car was repaired. They simply don't care and the poor repair... Now owned by Suncorp - they are not the Shannon's I started with.
Two problems. 1. I lodged a claim after an accident to my car on March 3. On March 24 I was informed that my car was to be written off and I was entitled to a payout. As of April 26 I have not received notification that payment has been made despite follow up calls to Shannons on three occasions.2. In following up this matter I have made a number of phone calls to Shannons and have waited for up to one hour to speak to someone. Minimum delay has been 30 minutes. Totally unsatisfactory.
Well if you want to buy insurance, you get through immediately however if you are making a claim, be prepared to wait forever and the standard "we are experiencing higher call volumes" message was played every time with 5 calls varying from 915am, 12.10pm and 3 other varying times. Clearly there are insufficent resources in the claims area which is NOT what you want during the stressful time of making a claim. family members have used them for years but after only now needing to make a claim, never again
very disapointing insurance provider, have waited almost one year for Shannons and the repairer to finally get back to me after many follow up emails and phone calls. lack of follow up on Shannons behalf than poor management on the repairers side blaming old teams for forgetting to order parts and taking more than 8 months to get the car in. After such a pathetic experience Shannons are not able to provide a higher car for me whilst the repairer has the car for 3 weeks.!
Our prized cars have always been insured with Shannon’s. Setting everything up, they were super helpful and attentive. However, once you make a claim, they all of a sudden have repeated drop outs whilst on hold, do not call you back and the Customer Service goes out the window. We made a claim 2 months ago and trying to get this sorted has been an absolute nightmare. Not only have we been without a car because of their reluctance to do ANYTHING, but we’re now well out of pocket as we needed to purchase a daily run about while we try in vain to get something organised for the claim car. They are seriously a joke. Happy to take your hard earned money each month, but start playing games once you need them the most. Don’t put your valuables in the hands of these thieves! If we can help at least one family from going through this hell, that’s better than nothing.
If I could make it less than 1 star, I most certainly would.Like other reviewers, I have had policies with Shannons for a very long time. Since the early 90's from memory. They used to be superb, even when I once had to claim for a stolen motorcycle.Sadly, they are now off-the-scale bad. I took home insurance out with them and after a heavy storm, had to claim for repairs. So far, it's been 10 months, and the repairs are incomplete. I launched a complaint and was told by their internal reviewer that they had not caused any unreasonable delays im attending to this matte! It just beggars belief. I pay them $7.000 a year in premiums.The money-gouging corporates (Suncorp) now own Shannons, which explains why they are as bad as the 12 other brands they own in the sector. Stay away from Suncorp insurance brands.
I have insured my two motorcycles with Shannons Bike Insurance now for three years and I have found their customer service to be very good, especially Shaun who I have spoken on the phone with several times, he is always friendly and knowledgeable about motorcycles, and is happy to make sure that you have the most suitable and economical insurance for your requirements. I have not needed to make a claim so I cannot comment on making an insurance claim, but I feel confident that they would be helpful and dependable if and when that situation arose.
Been a loyal customer for around nine years both with home and contents insurance and car.We have never ever made any claim.Car insurance went up a whopping 25% of which is totally unacceptable.We have recently cancelled both policies with them and I am saving around $40.00 AU per month with might I add better home insurance.We both used to own classic cars and carried further with the insurance long after we sold them.Loyalty seemingly means nothing.I did tell them on both cancelations my refusal to continue with them both on principle and cost.Up until this point we have had zero reasoning as to why such an epic increase was made.So, I voted with my money and went elsewhere.To add the policies we now have been around 20.00AU, saving each month on both and far better insurances fully comprehensive.
they are really helpful until u make a claim, car was stolen a couple days after my dads death, when reported they decided to investigate me, implying i set it up or was part of organising the car to go missing.... no empathy , no help, would nt even provide a hire car to drive some 280ks for fathers funeral, i could call this mob every insult under the sun, but what good would that do? they just made a bad situation every worse, i will never forget how i was treated nor forgive SHANNONS INSURANCE , PART OF THE SUNCORP GROUP AAMI
