So I would like to talk to you about the loopholes with Shannon’s car insurance. So I have been a Shannon’s fully comprehensive car insurance customer for over 3 years. My car is rare, very rare, in fact they had to get a someone to rewrite the policy just for my car as the year/make and model wasn’t known. So this happened and eventually my car was insured with an agreed value of $22,000. I paid on this policy for the last few years. Unfortunately several weeks ago somebody reversed into my car causing irreparable damage to multiple components. I called Shannon and sent photos and was told this looked to be a write off and they would have a tow truck in the morning to take it to the Shannon’s assessor’s in eagle farm. After that they said they needed another assessor and asked my preference, sadly I chose someone local who his a member of Shannon’s choice. The next day a lady called to tell me they would pay me $2000, after I complained I was told that was the labor and ignore the call. Later that day someone dropped my car in my driveway, it had no power and wouldn’t even start. The next day the Shannon’s assessor called me to offer me $4600 to replace the parts that no longer existed. My car is a 2006 Infiniti m45 and the oem parts don’t exist. When I asked him why the car had been dropped back to my house he was very confused. I asked how would they price the parts if they don’t have exist and let him know just for my rear bumper second hand with freight, fitting and paint was over $2000. As I explained my car doesn’t start, doesn’t accelerate why did this happen. He was shocked. He offer d me $4600 to pay for the repairs for which I can’t repair I was amazed. Now to explain what’s wrong with the car I will say this, as the other car tried to reverse at a high speed and I had a 8 year old son in the front as I honked my horn I also drove up into the gutter I destroyed my front bumper I hit a road sign on my front left quarter and when I was hit my right rear quarter hit another with. The area around my driver side panel was like a crater and the rear bumper was also heavily damage. My rear driver side wheel was damaged as was the exhaust tips and the rear diffuser. So Shannon‘s decided to tell me that they are entitled to pay me for the parts that can’t be fixed as opposed to the rest of the vehicle even though that is highly illegal. They do not have the option and as per my product disclosure statement and my insurance certificate it says they can pay to fix my vehicle or pay to write my vehicle off. They do not have the option of giving me money to repair a vehicle that can’t be repaired. Now my goal is to post over 50 reviews over all the different car sales and car type places and all the different reviews through Google and after all the said and done my mum has already offered to give me the money to sue them until I get my agreed value
I think your a absoute joke no other insurance company go on with bankruptcy i got left in the learch by you lot i paid 2 repayments bank in December and January only to discover in February that you were cancling my insurance because of my bankruptcy I've been left in a big hole now after having a accident in February and finding out you won't cover me ur a absolutel joke you say in ur terms and conditions that you help with financial hardship thats a lie do not believe this company your good to take payment of me for 2 months then screw me with ur bs ive spoken to many insurance over the past few months and none of them carry on like this
Had dealer service appointment organised after verbal confirmation that Shannons would reimburse me for part of a smash repair. I asked for a written confirmation so that I was not left holding the bill. It still hasn't arrived. Can't really call Shannons because they have hardly any telephone staff and take maybe an hour to get to you. Also that call won't be in writing will it?Having read other reviews I have a suggestion. If a claim starts going wrong could you please have the lovely, competent, people who sell the insurance product take over those claims and sort out the problems instead of the people who currently handle these more complex or hard to finalise claims? And hire more telephone staff.
I almost fell over when I opened the renewal notice for my classic sports car ... 30% increase over last year's ... and I haven't had a motor vehicle claim for the best part of 50 years, and that was a theft claim with another insurer. When I questioned this 'gouge' I got the usual bumf about their rising costs etc., etc., etc. You would have rocks in your head to insure with these awful thieves. So I went back to a previous insurer who quoted me little over half what Shannons wanted. REALLY!!!!
Where do I start. Had a broken windscreen since the 4th December, lodged a claim that day and as of today 5th January still not fixed. Iv raised multiple complaints and still no resolution. Iv been told they had no windscreen to replace and they will need to source it, waited then got told no had to take it to my “dealership” I don’t have a dealership it’s a second hand car and imported. I got told they would escalate the matter and will get a call. No call another complaint raised then got woken up at 5:20am from someone who left a message asking me to call them back . Call them back and spoke with another consultant and they didn’t have a a clue what was going on eventually got told they found a windscreen but they’ve got no one to calibrate it and again they’re gonna escalate it. Didn’t hear anything raised another complaint spoke to another person. Get told again no one can calibrate it take it to my dealership and if I can get it fixed, they MIGHT reimburse me If it’s in reasonable and fair cost….!? So they want me to do all the hard work find a repairer be out of pocket all for them too possibly reimburse me?????! I’ve been paying for windscreen and now there’s a chance that I may not even be able to claim on this Insurance. I’ve asked again for this to be escalated and someone to call me It’s been two days still waiting.Going around in circles getting told it’s being investigated and then when I don’t hear anything and I follow up, I get Told the same thing as before the escalation. I will not be renewing my insurance with them if this continues which is a shame because Iv always heard good things about Shannon’s insurance, I will be letting my friends and family know about my experience. Will also be going to AFCA
DO Not insure your vehicle with Shannon’s Insurance!! Recently my Toyota got damaged in a hail storm. Seems pretty simple claim yet Shannon’s conducted a 30 minute interview/interrogation (after the vehicle was assessed by their preferred hail damage experts and classed as a write-off ) and are now sending the vehicle to a forensic examiner in Essendon to be re assessed and probed (poor car).Just got it back 11 days later and that is only as I had to lodge a complaint as it is my main form of transport. But wait.. They also want my full driving history, a Federal police check, my mechanics details, original purchase receipt of the vehicle and all receipts for the time I have owned the vehicle, which is over 10 years, and the soul of my first born (last one was an embellishment) but the rest are true and accurate. They don’t want to pay out the insurance claim and are doing everything they can to prevent this even though I have video footage which I mentioned to them but they never wanted so I sent it anyway. Shame on them, they are quick to take your insurance payment and then your excess and now they look for any excuse to not pay. Avoid them at all costs and look at the many other complaints of poor service if any service at all regarding Shannons and their claim practices. Will be referring my case to AFCA.Update, My case manager just called and wanted me to remove my complaint with AFCA even tho Shannons have still not finalised my claim, over 2 months waiting now.
Do not use Shannon's insurance I have had my car with Shannon's for the last 5 years and have always been told on multiple occasions that I had salvage rights on the car if written off, fast forward to the day the accessor comes out I was then told I don't have salvage rights and it would cost 4k to keep the car, 1k was also taken out of my pay out for the insurance policy which was already paid this company is an absolute joke and should not be trusted you will get scammed and ripped off do not trust
BE VERY WARY OF SHANNONS MOTOR VEHICLE AND HOME INSURANCE. Take notice of this appalling FACTUAL review as Shannons are NOT what they portray themselves to be. Everything following is backed up by documents!, I have been with Shannons for over 20 years and have 11 vehicles (Im a classic car and motorbike collector and have had up to 14 vehicles insured), plus I have three multimillion dollar homes insured with Shannons. In over 20 years I have only made one previous claim that was caused by a road fault. The present claim is for accidental paint damage on my 1979 Corvette due to a storage shed flooding without my knowledge. It should have been a straight forward claim until it got to Shannons claims/assessing department. I have been subjected to multiple and conflicting excuses and acusations, why they wont pay the claim, including exclusions that are non existent in the policy, nonsensical correspondence from an egotistical assessor bragging about how many claims he has refused and correspondence that is so flawed it is laughable, consistent stonewalling, unanswered emails and what appears to be sneaky deceptive conduct, including false representations. A complaint to Shannons owners Suncorp, resulted in Suncorp offering and paying me $1,000 in compensation for the way I have been treated by Shannons and Suncorp directed Shannons to process the claim within 5 days. SHANNONS IGNORED THE DIRECTIVE. A further email from Suncorp management for Shannons to contact me by 5pm last Friday was also ignored. The arrogance towards not only myself, but also to Suncorp (Shannons owners) management is simply astounding.Court seems to be the next step…. So Insure with Shannons at your peril.
