I’ve had a horrific experience with Kingston. Less than a year after purchase, my 2TB external SSD completely failed. As a video journalist, this wasn’t just an inconvenience—it put my work at serious risk. I contacted the local retailer, VALI Computers in Bulgaria, but after several messages, they stopped replying altogether.I then reached out to Kingston’s European HQ in the UK. After long phone calls, they promised to recover my data free of charge. This promise gave me hope. But that hope quickly vanished. After weeks with no updates, Kingston suddenly changed their mind, claiming I had already received a refund from VALI—a complete lie. What’s worse, Kingston never contacted me to confirm this, and I was never given the chance to correct the misinformation. They simply used this false claim as an excuse to abandon their responsibility. Now I am left with lost data, broken trust, and no support. I’ve read many similar complaints from others—clearly, Kingston has an issue with their external SSDs, particularly with the USB bridge components, which often fail. The common symptom? The drive becomes invisible to the computer.I am left with no choice but to pursue legal action and contact the European Consumer Centre (ECC) to resolve this injustice. My advice: DO NOT buy a Kingston external SSD. Their products are unreliable, and their support—especially when you need them most—is deeply disappointing.
"secure USB sticks" no longer work in windows 11.Contacted ''support" after an extended period they sent a cut and paste request for my life history (copy of invoice, receipt, serial number, part number, descriptions, remedial actions tried etc etc.etc)Who keeps receipts for ten months?>UNHELPFUL cut and paste response- will NOT assist without copies of ALL of the above.Gave up, went into recycle bin.WONT buy Kingston ever again.
I bought a SA400S37240G (SBFK66.5) SSD: works great! And: they have THE most friendliest helpdesk I've ever experienced (I had an issue with gnome-disks (Linux), not a hardware problem). Alexandra and Antonella were very helpful!
AWFUL. AVOID.I ordered on 24/10/2024 DRAM from their website and paid in full and moneys were taken (I had the receipts). It was not available (despite the website saying it was). When did not arrive by today (1-2 days delivery) I phoned the sales department and they told me first that it was discontinued, than that it was "on order"I asked for an immediate cancellation and refund. They agreed to do so.Selling something that cannot be delivered because you do not have it, without informing the buyer of the situation, let alone automatically refunding, is obviously illegal. I just hope it is due to incompetence and not a common practice of Kingston Technology.AVOID.
Greed no greedy or fraudsters. This company should be investigated by the EU and the standard regulator in the UK for selling FAKE goods. I have no idea how many times I been saddled with there fake USB sticks I've bought from this company that claim to be USB 3.2 and they aren't even a USB 1. Contacting there support is a joke when they claim the product is entry level USB 3.2 Gen 1 so basically rubbish and not worth selling to the consumer. enough is enough.
I was let down by a Kingston reseller in the UK (who tried to pass themselves off as Kingston) so I spoke to Kingston Technology UK and they bent over backwards to get me the product I needed and provided it to me at no charge. That was service 'over and above' and I'm very grateful to them for that. They were under no obligation to help me out - I just wanted to ensure that they were aware of the resellers subterfuge - but their follow up throughout was exceptional and they deserve absolute credit for their customer service.Well done Kingston, and thank you!
