I would give negative stars if I could. This company does not care about people at all. I had to cancel a flight for a family emergency. Canceled less than 2 hours outside of their 24hour refund window, and they absolutely refused to refund, said I could only have a reservation credit that had to be used in the next year. Due to original family matters I was not going to be able to take any vacations soon, so I tried to transfer the credit to a family member but apparently that is not allowed either. And on top of all that, spirit stopped service to the airports near me. So I have absolutely no way to use the credit even if I could take vacation. and they don’t care. They refused to give any form of resolution. If there are any lawyers out there who would like to help me sue them, I have record of one of their agents saying they could help me with transferring the credit, then we got disconnected and once I got through to a person again now they say it’s absolutely not possible for them to do. I’ve wasted many hours of my life for this $1000 credit (I had booked 2 first class tickets)
I had a good experience in Orlando, spirit bag handlers retrieve my Prada hand bag from the plane, contacted me 24 hours later, and send it via FedEx few days later. Thank you, I thought I would never see it again.
They canceled my flight without any reasoning. They didn't answer their calls, I've been up all night trying to rebook and they just simply didn't answer. They rebooted me for a new flight with a 7 and a half hour stopover when my original flight was nonstop.
WORST airline experience ever: Flight scheduled for 4pm. At 3pm , they just mentioned that there are mechanical issues with the plane and we won't take off until 9 pm. They refuse to give hotel vouchers unless and until they cancel--which could be as late as 12 am. They give a $10 "food" voucher (a cup of chips was $5.75). They made us wait; then, around 630 pm. send an email saying it's canceled. They didn't announce anything to anyone. I got the hotel and another generous voucher for $10 meal. They "rebook" me on a flight that says leaving from MIA to Detroit and then to LGA. No arrival time listed. What was it? Leaving at 7 am from Miami, and arriving at LGA at 7 am the NEXT day. They had nothing else to offer. I had to pay $240 for a new flight with a legitimate airline to get home the next day. Biggest negative review. Was told by two other travelers that Spirit doesn't take care of its fleet. Another few guys were also being cancelled on another flight for the same reason
I made a reservation with Spirit, but I didn't receive any confirmation code or email. I was worried, so I started calling, but no one ever answered. I contacted the website, but I only got an automated voice with artificial intelligence. Only today did I receive the code, and I was finally able to request a cancellation, but they told me I was outside the 24-hour window. However, I'm outside the 24-hour window because of them, because they didn't respond. In my opinion, they do this on purpose to avoid giving the money back. I'm asking for help from a consumer protection association and the United States authorities to get my ticket money back. Reservation code is MGHI4Y #spirit @spirit
The cancellation of my flight on Christmas Eve was highly disruptive, leaving me stranded at a crucial time. With no reasonable rebooking options and minimal support, I had to scramble for an alternative, resulting in a last-minute flight that cost nearly five times what I originally paid. This was not just a minor inconvenience; it was a complete service breakdown at the worst possible time. I had hoped for a pleasant experience, but this incident showed that low fares often come at the cost of reliability and customer service. An airline's primary duty is to transport passengers, and cancelling a flight on such an important date without adequate recovery options is simply unacceptable. This experience has made me hesitant to fly with this airline again, and I strongly advise others to think carefully before choosing their service, especially during busy travel times.
Every time my family member travels to the United States and back home, the flights are consistently delayed, causing missed connections. This has happened to me before as well. When seeking help from customer service, the representatives are unhelpful and make excuses, making you feel at fault. Recently, my family member had a flight from a city in Florida to Colombia that was delayed for nearly three hours, resulting in missing the final connecting flight home. This airline is the absolute worst!
This experience was dreadful. I remember my travel back in 2001 when I flew from Florida to Pennsylvania. The seats were cramped, and when I asked the crew for water because I was choking, they told me it would cost $3.00. Can you believe that? Absolutely terrible service, and I hope they go bankrupt or at least change their name and improve staff training!
I had one of the most frustrating travel experiences with this airline. A delay made me miss my connection, and I was rebooked on a later flight that required an overnight stay. There were no hotel or meal vouchers provided, and communication was unclear. Families with children were left stranded, and the explanations for the delay were inconsistent. After waiting for hours, I was informed that no hotel or meal vouchers would be given, despite earlier assurances. This airline shows no accountability or care for passengers. Cheap tickets are not worth the hassle of being abandoned and misled. I will never fly with them again and will advise others to avoid this airline.
I purchased a round-trip ticket. Unfortunately, I missed my flight due to being detained, so I had to buy a new ticket for the next day. When I tried to check in for my return flight, the system couldn't find my reservation. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that my return flight was automatically canceled because I didn’t show up for the first flight. I was confused as I had two separate confirmation numbers for two separate tickets. They refused to refund me or reactivate my flight home. I feel robbed. This company is terrible, and I hope they go bankrupt.

Since when did air travel become so expensive? At Spirit Airlines, our motto is Less Money. More Go. We believe that when you spend less, you ultimately get More Go. Whether that means more adventure in new places, further trips to far-away destinations, or maybe visiting the ones you love more often, we champion those fliers who see travel as the ultimate goal. We strive to keep airfare fair by allowing our fliers to pick à la carte extras like bags, seat assignments, and refreshments, while others bake them into their ticket prices. Our Fit Fleet™ is also one of the youngest in the industry, allowing us to charge less for fuel while taking you further.
