This course is incredibly well built. The content, the platform, and the different ways to engage with the material are all really thoughtfully designed. You can tell a lot of care went into how the learning unfolds.

Part of me wishes I had taken it during my outdoor climbing season so I could immediately apply everything on rock. That said, doing it in the winter had its own sweetness. I was able to explore the ideas in the more controlled (though limited) environment of my indoor gym, which actually made it easier to experiment with some of the mental practices.

The mindset and mindfulness tools have also been incredibly transferable beyond climbing. I found myself applying a lot of the concepts in other parts of my life, and even to snowboarding this winter. Feeling what happens in my body when I move from comfort → stretch → panic zones has been profound. This is a framework that clearly applies to many areas of life.

Inspired by the mantra work in the course, I came up with “patience while I heal,” which has been helping me navigate a wrist injury while still staying connected to climbing and to the course. And in true Hazel and Angus form, their questions have helped me stay curious about ways I can grow as a climber while being injured.

I’m also really grateful that we continue to have access to the material. There’s a lot of depth here, and I can see myself revisiting sections and exercises as different climbing situations arise.

If I had one small wish, it would just be a bit more time with each section. I sometimes found it hard to fully complete the exercises in a chapter before the weekly Q&A calls. That said, part of that might also just be my very curious mind! The material inspired me to go down quite a few rabbit holes outside the course rather than sticking strictly to the weekly content.

Angus and Hazel are such wells of insight that I sometimes felt a bit guilty showing up to the calls without really deep questions prepared… mostly because I didn’t want to waste the opportunity to learn from them. Even then, joining the calls was always interesting, and I inevitably learned a lot from the questions other people brought.

I could definitely see myself taking another Strong Mind course once I’ve had more time to digest all of this, or even signing up for one-on-one coaching if I hit a plateau and want some personalized guidance.

Overall, this is a really thoughtful and valuable course that I’d recommend to any climber who wants to grow not just physically, but in how they relate to fear, challenge, and progress in climbing.

I'm a professional trainer in a different domain, and I regularly enroll in various training programs, both online and in real life. In my not so humble opinion, the Strong Mind Climbing course stands out. The course material is abundant. The progression is pedagogically intelligent, with much love given to tiny details you wouldn't have thought of. Hazel, Angus and the team are nice and generous human beings who really take the time to answer all the questions you might have. I can only recommend this course to all the climbers out there.

Strong Mind course is a must for your mental training

I think I was/am having problems with all kinds of fear: fear of falling, fear of failure. I even have a fear of heights... Yes, sometimes I am wondering why I climb, lol. So I always saw climbing as a therapy, a way to overcome my mental limitations, but I was pushing myself, and I was doing it all through panic. I wasn't progressing. I saw Hazel Course 2 years ago, and I found it interesting, but I told myself that I could do it alone. I read books, and slowly I was making progress. So for 2026 I saw that Hazel and Angus were going to open the course again. I had a moment to think about the 2 years that I was doing the process alone with books, and I didn't saw so much progress, so I decided it was a good moment to do this process with someone. Every chapter is fascinating; you change the way you see climbing and also learn to know yourself much better. Sometimes, when I was seeing all the theory, I couldn't imagine how I could start to see the progress, or I was having some questions about how I could apply it to my situations, but that's why you have the opportunity to ask! And that helps a lot. It's not only the theory but also the community and the support that you are becoming invaluable! I came back from my first outdoor trip, and it was the first time ever I could climb a runout without being scared! It's like I'm writing, and I still can't believe it. If you trust the process and do your work, you are going to see a change, without a question.

IT WAS MEGA!!!!!

Just completed the Strong Mind course, and it was MEGA! Hazel, Angus and the whole team are great. The quality of the content is incredibly high, and the weekly Zoom sessions are excellent as well. It was definitely worth the money. It's a shame that it just goes way too quickly, but that's life. Once you sign up, make the most of it! The community is also very good; everyone has been very kind and supportive of each other. I'll definitely do my best to keep in touch with the other students.

Transformed my climbing experience for the better

This course has completely changed my mindset towards climbing beyond just my fear of falling. It took me a solid 2 months on a climbing trip to realise that my fears and anxiety were not improving just by falling and climbing more, and if anything was just making it worse. Upon starting, it soon became clear where this approach was wrong, and it guided me through a step by step process that has given me the tools to progress effectively. I found the regular meet ups and guidance from the coaches exceptionally helpful, and the community that was built with people all over the world, having the same experiences and feelings, irreplaceable. I can say with confidence this course has had a positive impact beyond my climbing. I cannot recommend it more to anyone who feels that their mind has become a barrier to not just progression but pleasure from the sport. From fear of falling, to fear of failure or even negative mindsets, with time and work put in this has completely reset my mind. Thank you so much to all the coaches for your guidance and support it has been exceptional.

The Strong Mind course has transformed…

The Strong Mind course has transformed my climbing experience. The fear of falling part of the course gives you practical and effective ways to address it, and the course covers a lot of ground beyond fear of falling, like social anxiety, perfectionism and fear of failure. The team is very supportive and generous with their time to answer questions and provide advice. I can't recommend this course highly enough. The stuff you learn also applies so well to non-climbing life, which is an added bonus. Thank you so much Strong Mind team. :)

I was completely lost

I was completely lost and almost ready to quit climbing. I would get really upset and scared, had no clue on how to manage my fear and if I wasn’t crying I was feeling so frustrated and negative. I didn’t even know where to start until a friend mentioned they had joined a version of this course. I was quick to make a decision and enrolled in the full version with Q&A support. Best decision and investment from day one. Each chapter felt like an eye opener and made me realised how badly I had approached it all…and most of us do.I was so keen to start the fall practice and really enjoyed this part. It has transformed my climbing big time but I know there is also soooo much more to improve. I think I am only using the tip of the iceberg of tools the strong mind course offers. I am so excited to keep learning and keep practicing what I learn. I will be back for more next year and will continue to shout about this course to everyone I know! Thank you so much and happy climbing!
