Booked a reservation through Trivago partner Algol Hotels (via Trivago website) only to show up at the hotel to find I had no reservation because the hotel had canceled the reservation a week earlier, and neither the hotel nor Trivago's partner bothered to let me know.
It was my first (and last) time using Trivago.
I used to use this site as a way to see the hotel options in a given area. Other sites sometimes don't show hotels that have to be booked directly. When trying to access the site from a browser on my mobile recently, I found I couldn't proceed without creating an account. The site makes enough money from advertising hotels, but now it seems they want to make money off the data of anyone using the site. No thanks.
This was supposed to be a "DEAL", however because of extremely bad weather, we had to cancel. I believe we paid as much as booking straight to the hotel and the cancellation was much earlier than the actual hotel. No refund, no rescheduling, no "DEAL." Out $175 and no one cares. Very disappointing and we will make sure to tell others to book directly with the hotel. They are not the ones who book the hotel, but a third party. They hide who actually booked the hotel so that you can not have any communication with them. They keep the money you are out!
I have used this service twice, unfortunately booking them too close together. My most recent experience was with a booking in NYC. I called to find out that my card was never charged and I had no reservation. I was directed to another platform, which by the way had a higher fee without additional amenities included. It's a long story, but I would never book through this service or its associated platforms. They have low ratings on review sites, which is concerning. Definitely feel scammed!
Total scam!!! I booked through a comparison site, but it ended up with another service, which was disguised as the original site. The receipt showed the other service's name. I checked with the actual hotel and found no reservation. When I called the service, they claimed I would receive a booking number 24 hours before my stay. After insisting on getting it immediately, they said they would provide a number but couldn't specify when. When I asked for a cancellation and refund, they said it was non-refundable. I argued that there was no booking, but they insisted they had one. I asked for a booking number, but they couldn't provide it. It's frustrating—they treat customers like fools. I regret using that comparison site in the first place. Never again.
The service has been utterly frustrating. The tool picked different dates from what I had reserved, and after reaching out to the support team for four consecutive days, all I got were scripted, unhelpful replies. The quality of service is extremely lacking, and you should be wary of the hotel information they present—they might assign you to dates of their choosing. This is genuinely unacceptable by any measure.
Well look for a B&B tells me the place I booked is 11 miles away from where need to go... Perfect.. Then comes the day its 64 miles away two deluxe rooms when. Eeeded double bed and two single beds and well. Ain't that helpfull at all messed the start of the holiday up
