I never hit "checkout" on a new site without checking Trustpilot first. It’s saved me from a few sketchy-looking companies and pointed me toward some great small businesses I wouldn't have found otherwise.
I’ve had an active experience using Trustpilot and initially my reviews were accepted without any issues. However, after two or three days, some of them were either unflagged, unpromoted, or even flagged again without clear explanation. It was confusing because the reviews followed the guidelines and were based on my genuine experience with the product. Having two or three reviews flagged made me question how the moderation process works. I appreciate the platform for allowing customer voices, but I hope there can be more transparency about why reviews are later flagged or limited.
On October 2, 2025, I submitted a review of a company’s apparently fabricated customer reviews on their website. I cautioned potential customers to consider this practice before purchasing their product.
I forwarded a copy of the review to the company. Their customer service representative quickly replied. She asked for examples of the fake reviews I had referred to.
I did a full statistical analysis of their 251 customer reviews. I concluded that 88 percent of them had been obviously fabricated. I analyzed the construction of these 221 reviews and determined that they were constructed from stock lists of prefixes, stems, and suffixes, used in different combinations. Many identical reviews were attributed to different customers, and none of these reviews contained any punctuation or capitalization.
I sent my findings to the company’s customer service representative, and I told her I would post my findings on Trustpilot. She thanked me and said she would forward my research to their marketing department. I told her I would retract my review after they removed the fake reviews from their website.
The company did not remove any of the fabricated reviews. Instead they filed a complaint with Trustpilot and had my review taken down on the grounds that I had no interaction with them.
Trustpilot contacted me and provided me with the opportunity to contest the removal of my review. They requested evidence that I had direct interactions with the company I reviewed. I sent Trustpilot my emailed correspondence with the company’s customer service representative. I had four email exchanges with Trustpilot, and I was assured that they would review the evidence I gave them and restore my review when they verified that it was legitimate.
My analytical review of the company was never restored. On my Trustpilot client page, that review is still tagged “Review removed.” My original review of the company has also been taken down by Trustpilot, although it is not tagged in my account with “Review removed.”
The company I reviewed continues to post fraudulent customer reviews on their website, and Trustpilot continues to provide them with a 4.5 Excellent rating. I am very disappointed that I cannot trust Trustpilot to support their readers.
I extend to Trustpilot the same offer I made to the company I reviewed--I will retract this review after my other reviews have been restored. However, I suspect that this review will also be removed.
I have been using to share my opinions and also read feedback from other users before trying different online services. The platform is very helpful when you want to know whether a company is reliable or not. The interface is simple, and it makes it easy to post and read reviews.
One challenge I experienced was that some of my reviews were removed or flagged even though they were based on my personal experience. I understand that the platform has rules to prevent fake reviews, but the process can sometimes be confusing for genuine users.
In general, Trustpilot is a useful and trusted website for sharing real experiences. I believe it can become even better if the verification process is clearer and more user-friendly for honest reviewers.
I left a review where I made a truthful statement about something a company did. I got an email saying "our defamation software analyses whether the identified content, in the context of the whole review, is likely to cause serious harm to someone's reputation or serious financial loss to a business." Please speak to your lawyers. Truth is always a defense to defamation.
After viewing some questionable scores like that of 3 Mobile I don't trust Trustpilot and I don't trust any excuses or reasons you make because you obviously will defend yourself. Maybe people think a company like 3 should have such a good score because 2 out of 3 is good but good prices and internet connection doesn't make up for awful customer service and certainly such service shouldn't allow for an excellent score. Maybe there's a very good reason the reviews for other 3 websites registered with you are bad. I suggest you examine a score given by customers to make sure it makes sense with the review or have a system that means 5 stars must meet a certain level of correlation to the email so that any small complaint in the review won't allow it and 4 star reviews need to have no one major complaint. Check 3 for honest scoring!
Trustpilot is the pinnacle of reviews because they are always genuinely authentic reviews and you just know that there is never any fake claims made here. This is why I will always put my trust in Trust pilot. Thank you
