EDIT: After reading their reply, I take back "great support and people." Attempting to blame me...tells me all I need to know about Ultimate Tax as a company.---Great support and people....but that's where anything great about the Ultimate Tax product ends.Horrible software. Confusing interface. You go 'round and 'round and 'round and bouncing back and forth between forms, looking for the ONE place it will allow you to enter the information (and it's not in the order the forms are listed).So here I am, the beginning of tax season....and realizing I've not only wasted hundreds of dollars, but I need to start over with another tax software. Because UT is THAT BAD.Yeah, here's an example. In the "Diagnostics" where it checks for errors, on a return with a filing status of Married Filing Separately, Diagnostics said "The spouse name, SSN, phone numbers and date of birth should only be entered if the filing status on the return is married filing joint. (398)"I clicked on the error link(which takes you to where the error is), and lo and behold....under Filing Status and Exemptions -"Married Filing Separately" asks for Spouse's first name, last name, and SSN.Several times I entered information, and had the page in the navigation tree show as green with a check mark (meaning it was complete and correct), only to have the information (like a name from a W-2, the payer name from a W-2) just disappear and Diagnostics complain about it.I wasted $600 on this. I'm not going to waste any more of my time on it.
I work for TurboTax and I still use Ultimate Tax, so that's really saying something. Their customer service and assistance to get you comfortable with their program is second to none. It's my 2nd year using them and I'm one satisfied customer.
Each year the staff and sales have been very helpful in making sure I have the right software to handle the season. They take the time go over your needs and will follow up to make sure everything is going well. They are reasonable and work great for the solo office.
