I have been with Square for over 20…

I have been with Square for over 20 years for my business. I have no complaints with Square itself, however, I have been offered several loans through Square, and have always paid them back in a timely manner. There is a new thing now, however through Plaid. In the past, when you wanted to take a loan out from Square, you could put in your routing number and account number( which Square already has and has had for many years)… this new thing, however wants you to put in your bank password in order to get the loan! There is no way I’m putting my banking password online. I don’t care how secure they say they are. They still have human beings working for plaid and anything can happen.. because of this, I will not take any more loans from Square ,and I hope enough people feel strongly about this so that they change their policy back to the way it used to be ..with just your routing number and account number.. Square has had my bank information for years, otherwise, how would all of my funds get deposited daily from my clients? Why in the world are they asking for your bank password through plaid?

Run from this dishonest, hassle of a company before they steal your money

My very first transaction with square, they held my funds and forced me to spend hours giving them all kinds of personal and financial information about my business and me. After giving them everything that they asked for they decided to deactivate my account and hold my money for 90 days. The reason they gave for deactivating my account, "we’re not able to support your business needs right now." I have been in business for 8 years and have used PayPal, Zettle, and SimpleSwipe with no issues. I decided to try out Square to save on the processing rates and they turned my first and only transaction into a nightmare. Now they have deactivated my account and are holding $7k of my money hostage for 90 days. I will never recommend using Square to anyone. I now know the meaning of buyer beware!
