Consistently Helpful, but Office Distractions

I've consistently received excellent support from the local council. However, my last visit was marred by a staff member who was excessively loud, making it difficult to focus on the forms I needed to complete. While the other staff members were very supportive, the noise was quite distracting. I asked the loud staff member about sending my form by post, and she confirmed I could, but later I found out that was incorrect. I felt quite let down by not verifying the information.

Exceptional Support from the Council

Each time I've reached out to the local council, they've been outstanding. However, during my recent visit, it was quite warm, and a staff member at the front desk was unusually loud, moving around and speaking at a high volume. This made it difficult to concentrate on filling out forms. Thankfully, the other two staff members were very helpful, but the noise was quite a distraction. I inquired if I could send my form by mail, and she confirmed that I could, but later found out that wasn't true. I felt disappointed for not double-checking that detail.

Incompetent Management

They are completely incapable of handling even simple tasks. This group seems indifferent to the needs of residents living in their poorly maintained properties. If you find yourself in a similar situation, consider joining a forum to seek justice against this ineffective organization. It's disgraceful how much negligence is tolerated.

Longstanding Overcharging Issues

I have been overcharged for over 20 years by the local council for a service that was never provided. After raising the issue, I received a partial refund in 2017, but over £800 is still owed to me. Despite numerous complaints, I've been treated dismissively and told to contact another entity for resolution. I was informed that I should have received a six-year rebate instead of five. This situation feels like mischarging, if not outright fraud. I've escalated the matter but continue to fight for what is rightfully mine.

Lack of Professionalism

One would expect a government body to demonstrate integrity. Complaints seem to go unanswered, as they appear to support each other in the end. While there is an option to escalate to an ombudsman, it can take years to see results. There seems to be no accountability, and responses can be delayed for weeks, requiring constant follow-up. If I performed this poorly at my job, I would have been dismissed long ago. In my experience, the council lacks competent staff committed to serving the community.

Ongoing Issues with Rubbish Collection

I've been reporting missed rubbish collections for over nine months, and the collection team has been verbally abusive and intimidating. Despite my weekly calls, all I receive are excuses. They refuse to collect rubbish from my wheelie bin, even though it's placed on the pavement. After an incident with a staff member, I've been subjected to further neglect. This ongoing situation is affecting my mental health, leading to increased anxiety, and I feel powerless against their intimidation.

Repeated Missed Collections
