I am extremely disappointed with this clinic’s service and lack of compassion.
My partner’s dog had been suffering from itching on his leg for several days, to the point where he had injured himself. This is not a new issue — he has had the same problem before, and the vet had previously prescribed a cream, which is already on his medical record.
My partner works until 10 PM, and I was unable to take the dog to the clinic myself. We called several times to ask if I could simply collect the prescribed cream, especially since it was a repeat prescription. We even sent photos and videos clearly showing the redness and irritation.
Despite this, we were told that my partner must bring the dog in at night and pay an emergency fee. Charging over £200 just to obtain a cream for a known, previously treated condition is completely unreasonable.
During my last call, I explained that we genuinely could not come in during the day, and that they were leaving us in a situation where our dog would have to continue suffering. Their response was simply that “it’s the clinic policy.”
This clinic clearly does not prioritize animal welfare or understand clients’ circumstances. It feels like money is more important to them than the health of pets. For something as straightforward as a repeat prescription, this level of cost and inflexibility is unacceptable.
You should be ashamed of this kind of treatment.
Took my dog for consultation on Friday, regarding a skin condition and discharge from her eye. I got steroid tablets and shampoo for skin condition, total cost £106 ( including £60 consultation fees ). But apparently the vet couldn't give me any medication for the discharge from her eye as at that moment in time, she couldn't see any discharge. Is that because THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME FOR ANOTHER CONSULTATION FEE FOR MY DOGS EYE. THAT I ALREADY CONSULTED THE VETS ABOUT AT THE FIRST VISIT.Proper greedy lying deceitful vetsDO NOT USE THESE THIEVING HORRIBLE GREEDY LYING SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY
I have to say, Westway's were amazing from start to finish. They found a lump in my dogs anal gland, then in two weeks he had surgery with the best most kind caring vet, Christina she was amazing from start to finish professional caring everything you want from a vet couldn't recommend Westway more they are amazing thank you so much to the whole team xxxx
Westway reached a new level of dog and customer care yesterday. We took our dog Nell into the Fenham surgery at 10am on the 10 Sept for an appointment regarding a hind leg and were made to wait until 10.30 before being seen. We were asked to pay an £800 deposit before the appointment. They wanted to check her bloods under supportive care at a cost of £548 and take an X-ray at a cost of £642. We arrived to collect her at 5.30 and were again made to wait the usual 30 minutes before being seen. The first words of the receptionist werethat we owed another £588 without any explanation of how we had incurred the costs. Eventually after insistence we were given an explanation and itemised invoice. Nell was returned to us in a distressed condition and we have been asked to return her in 48 hours so they can test her bloods again albeit they were clear the first time and told they would like to do a CT scan which together would cost another £1500. The amount of money is not the issue as we would do anything to safeguard the health of both our dogs but my wife sensed we were being ripped off at every turn and we are no further forward as to why she cannot weight bear on her hind leg. There should be an investigation into the overcharging of veterinary surgeries.
Just had my two dogs to vets. Was in with the vet for a total of eight minutes. ( FOUR MINUTES PER DOG)Got two lots of 45 prednisalone tablets for allergies at a cost of £44.74. On line this same medication would have cost me £6. Then there was the charge for the consultations £120 for eight minutes. So in total it has cost me £164.74. That works out at £720 per hour. Total rip off, these people play on their clients emotions knowing fine well they will not let their animals suffer so end up paying through the nose. It's one big con and they should be ashamed of themselves. It's time the government did something about it.
I took my dog to Eden hills vets and was seen immediately, my dog got the best treatment and the staff were so kind to me. The situation became an emergency and I took my dog to west road hospital. It had become a very expensive situation but the practice manager helped me with options to pay. I don’t know the name of the vet that was treating my dog but she was fabulous. Very sympathetic towards my dog and myself. I picked my dog up the following day and everything had gone great. She’s had follow up appointments at Eden hills and I can’t fault anything. Is it the cheapest vets around? No. But the service you receive from west way is brilliant. I’d like to send my heart felt thanks to the vets and staff at both Eden hills and west road.
Can’t thank the vets enough. I’ve had to take my cat in as an emergency case when she was attacked by a dog. And I’ve recently had to get in touch about my cat limping. The care and compassion given to her and the empathy given to me was second to none. Would highly recommend.
If it was possible to give no stars I would. I had to take our very poorly little one in to be put to sleep. We had verbally requested paw prints and fur clipping several times it was then put in the form that I had signed she then took our little one away to be put to sleep she then came back not even 2 minutes later to say she had passed on her own and that she was very sorry. We reiterate again about the paw and fur clipping she said would we like to wait to have them now or receive them when we came to pick the ashes up we opted to get them when we collected her ashes. (which now I really regret not waiting!) less than a week later I received a call to say her ashes were ready to collect we went to bring her home at the reception the lady said the paw prints are in the box and they are beautiful and that she was very sorry for the loss. In my confused state I walked out without checking the bag/box. Once in the car I proceeded to look in the box to see her little prints to then see that there was no fur clippings my partner went back into the vets to ask if it left out by mistake as it wasn’t in the bag/box the receptionist asked if he had definitely checked the bag, box& envelopes, she asked to check herself so my partner give her the bag she checked and see it was not placed in there at all. She told him that we would receive a call after she checked with the vet incase it was misplaced but unfortunately she wasn’t in that day. I rang the vets as I had not heard anything from them and the receptionist told me that it was under investigation by the practice manager which is when I 100% knew that they had NOT taken a fur clipping! A day later I received a call from Mark the practice manager to say he was sorry this happened and that it HADN'T been done before she was cremated and that it was a fault on there part when asked what happens now he said it will be brought up in a staff meeting to make sure this never happens again! To some it may just seem like she was just a pet but to us she was part of our family. I will definitely not be using this vets ever again!!
