1⭐ Review – Stressful experience and zero support
I’m posting this after watching my family deal with the nightmare of property damage following a booking through Wise Move. The movers were careless and clearly inexperienced, but the real disappointment was the platform’s response.
The issues we faced:
No Accountability: The mover denied the damage despite clear evidence.
The "Middleman" Excuse: Wise Move refused to intervene, claiming they are just a "neutral platform" and can’t enforce compensation since they weren’t physically present.
Poor Communication: Responses were slow, robotic, and focused on technicalities rather than actually helping us reach a resolution.
We’ve had to escalate this to the Disputes Tribunal just to get a fair hearing. If you book through them, be warned: if your belongings are damaged, you are completely on your own. They provide the connection, but they take zero responsibility when things go wrong.
Very disappointing experience with Wise Move.
During a booking arranged through their platform, the movers were clearly inexperienced and careless. One of the movers appeared very young and lacked basic awareness during the job. A chair wheel fell off during loading, and a TV was damaged when a door was pushed open without checking the surrounding area, striking the screen.
The wheel issue was acknowledged, but the mover refused to accept responsibility for the TV damage, claiming it was already broken. I provided photos and timestamped messages showing the damage was discovered immediately after the move. Despite this, Wise Move refuses to take responsibility. They also refused to help at least in providing the booking details as I was planning to escalate this to the Dispute Tribunal.
Responses were slow and ultimately unhelpful. The platform positions itself as neutral and does not ensure accountability when damage occurs during services arranged through them.
I am now proceeding through the Disputes Tribunal.
If you’re booking through Wise Move, be aware that if something goes wrong, you may be left to pursue the mover on your own.
Absolutely outstanding service from Rio Movers from start to finish. Communication was professional, clear, and completely on point throughout the entire process. Keziah’s live updates on the day were fantastic and took a lot of stress out of what is usually a hectic experience.
A special shout-out to Bronson and Tarscio, the two movers on site. They were friendly, calm, and incredibly hardworking, with a great attitude the whole day. They took exceptional care moving our full three-bedroom home, including navigating stairs, and were meticulous in protecting furniture using blankets and straps inside the truck. Nothing felt rushed, and everything was handled with care and respect.
The truck itself was generously sized, which made the whole move far more efficient and well organised.
Hands down, this was so much better than our previous moving experience. Professional, careful, and genuinely pleasant people to deal with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rio Movers and will absolutely use them again.

The service transported my boat on its trailer from Rotorua to Christchurch seamlessly. I confirmed the arrangement on Monday, and by Thursday, my boat arrived in Christchurch. The service was outstanding, with excellent communication throughout. The representative even took the time to secure items on the boat that were overlooked by the dealer.
