Allows fraudulent sellersAllows fraudulent sellers, refuses justified refundsI made a purchase through 2Checkout (Verifone) for a software. The software failed completely, recovering only corrupted files. I provided clear proof that it did not work and requested a refund, which was denied without valid reason.Since 2Checkout processed the payment, I contacted them expecting consumer protection. Instead, they allowed a company to reject the refund, ignoring their own refund policies and failing to assist me in any meaningful way.2Checkout does not protect buyers. If you purchase through them, be prepared to lose your money if something goes wrong.
I went to purchase antivirus software and 2Checkout was the third party vendor for billing. They requested I send a picture of myself and my bank statement to verify it was my credit card. Yep, and they asked for it by unencrypted email. That is insane! When I questioned them further, they said that was my only option to get the payment to process. I'll take my business elsewhere. Crazy!Update: I appreciate your reply but I've already attempted to resolve the issue with your customer service dept at the time of the incident and was repeatedly told the only way to resolve this was to send my personal sensitive information (photo of myself and a copy of my bank statement) via an unsecured email which is not something a prudent customer would do. There are much better ways to verify my CC information. Bitdefender is an excellent product but they have unfortunately contracted with an incompetent third party biller, 2Checkout, who has policy and procedures in place that put the consumer at risk for fraud and personal identity theft. Those are unacceptable business practices and a company to avoid.
I hardly ever leave reviews. This one frustrated me so much it made sense to shed some light on the matter. I received an email saying my Netgear Armor (powered by Bitdefender) subscription would auto renew for $99.99 Unless you choose to forfeit your protection, you’ll be billed 99.99 USD on 2025-01-30. No where on this email is there a link to your account. It was a complete joke how long it took me to finally track down where my subscription was hiding. It wasn't with Netgear. Not Netgear Armor. No account with Bitdefender. It was with 2Checkout. Now Verifone. It seems like such a scam for this company to make it so challenging for someone to want to click the reminder email. And update their account accordingly. I know why they do it. It's to pray on the weak or less patient in order to keep collecting subscription money. I've never experienced such a complicated chain of events to stop an auto renewal that I don't recall signing up for. Unless that's the way this company structures their business model for this product. On an auto renew basis only when you sign up. Then make it so difficult to cancel it. It feels slimy.
On 31Dec2023 (Twenty twenty three) I bought software from a Vendor on-line who uses 2checkout.com (now Verifone) as their billing company. 28Dec2024 I noticed a renewal charge from 2checkout.com. I had never authorised a renewal. Correctly so, they need the Vendor’s approval to refund the amount. The Vendor informed that they had ordered 2checkout.com to refund the amount and to inform them if the refund amount did not arrive in 7 days. I also received an email from 2checkout.com to inform that the refund had been actioned and it should be in my Bank account in 7 days. The amount arrived in my Bank account within the seven days. I informed both the Vendor and 2checkout.com that all is good and thanked them both. 10/1/2025 I receive an email from 2checkout.com to say: “We regret to inform you that your refund request sent to 2Checkout the company operating (Vendor web address) was not approved. For further details regarding this issue, please refer directly to (Vendor web address)". Bottom line: the problem is solved; the amount has been refunded. What went wrong?; the auto renewal was never requested from 2checkout.com when I bought the software end-2023, and they were never authorised to charge my Bank account. To have the charge refunded took two weeks of many emails. How can 2checkout.com improve? Simply. improve their communication with the Vendor and refrain from blaming the Customer for being the cause of the problem, and last but not least; notify the Customer when they are about to charge the Customer's Bank account. Lesson learned for me: always make sure that one’s Bank account details are not kept after the necessary transaction is completed. Companies should not hold on to your Bank account details without your knowledge.Date of experience: 28/12/2024 to 10/1/2025
I'm happy to work with 2Checkout. They accept many different payment methods including PayPal. Also they always help to solve all financial issues with orders including providing documents requested by customers. This e-commerce platform provides a lot of options and possibility to setup a custom checkout page for your website.
