American Risk Insurance (ARI) is a Houston-based company providing home insurance with mixed reviews and significant complaint history, particularly regarding claims handling. Many customers report poor communication, delayed repairs, and lowballed claims. The BBB revoked its accreditation in 2021, and the firm faces frequent unanswered complaints.
on October 10, 2025, we informed American Risk Insurance Company that all the repairs job for hail damages on this residential property was completed and requested on the same day the releases of the remaining depreciation amount to cover payment due for this service bill. It has been 5 months from the date of that note, and no payment has been issued by American Risk Insurance Company yet, making this bill delinquent over 150 days. . In this order, the disbursement of funds for partial payments made so far for this claim by American Risk Insurance has been plagued by delays and slowdowns, adding unnecessary steps and burden to an already bureaucratic, arbitrary and ineffective procedural system which has been at the center of frequent reports of complaints regarding delays in receiving the second half of checks after work is completed and inspected, raising the prospect by State regulators of a highly corrupted scheme and malicious business practices involving a lack of transparency, and the exploitation of regulatory loopholes.
Recommended Legal Action:
Open and conduct a thorough investigation about reportedly arbitrary actions, corrupt schemes and unfair business practices complaints submitted by a large growing number of Policyholders that have filed homeowner claims with this company in the last 3 recent years.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. We put a new roof on our home and I have been unable to get in touch with our agent. I called them directly and they told me they cannot help me. They do not speak to the homeowners, they only speak to the agent. But she could help me find a new agent. I said no thanks, I will just find an entirely new company. I can't imagine what would happen if I actually had a claim to file. They wont speak to the homeonwer???

If I could do less than a star I would

If I could do less than a star I would, also there agents are horrible as well. I had a policy with them and one of my cards I was paying got canceled. So I had to change payment and agent told me they canceled my policy due to bad roof. I got no calls they just canceled my policy but they sent an email that of course I miss. Agent of course defends and say they can cancel anytime and they apparently came by and inspected my roof which I highly doubt. Also why would they not tell me that they would come by and inspect it. Agent name is Luke McAuliffe and seems like Insert …… . Guy said I should do Allstate because that is what I had first and he had me cancel because other insurance he was offering was 2400 and then he got the American life for 1400

Give them all the facts and still deny the claim. Everyone needs to file complaints on American Risk Insurance with the Texas Department of Insurance and the Attorney General. They cannot act unless they have the complaints

Terrible Service

I called customer service inquiring about the details of my policy to see how much I paid a year for the policy, but nobody picked up the phone the first time. I left a voicemail, but nobody called me back. I called again, a lady picked up the phone with a muffled voice, and said I need to call the agent where I bought insurance to find out about details of the policy. Well, you know what, I switched insurance after that.Don't be cheap to buy them because you never you will need to make a claim and suddenly they give you a hard time to file or cover the damage.

Don't ever trust your house to this company

I am deeply disappointed with ARI Insurance Company. The coverage they claim to provide is deceptive and unreliable. When I needed the assistance they advertised, I was completely abandoned. It's upsetting that I had to personally experience this to uncover the numerous negative reviews left by other customers. Their poor rating on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) speaks volumes about the lack of integrity and support this company offers. I would strongly advise others to thoroughly research and consider other options before trusting ARI Insurance with your needs.

Stay Away

In my experience, paying this insurance company was like literally throwing your money in the trash. They denied a legitimate claim, and the process became unnecessarily dragged out. Management even pushed for a third adjuster to deny the claim. I strongly recommend being cautious and researching other options before choosing this company.

Terrible service

Bought home owners insurance 09/24 and received letter that my policy would be cancelled on 12/09/24 due to damaged roof. Linda Cuevas originally said if I replaced roof before 12/09 policy would continue. On 12/09 she cancelled policy and told me the new roof had raised shingles. I submitted a paid invoice and photos of new roof as requested but she cancelled policy and never took any of my phone calls or returned my calls. In the two days to make her decision, she first complained to my agent that the photos I sent were too small and too blurry. This company will never answer the phone! Save yourself the headache and time, choose another insurance provider that will answer or return your calls!

HO insurance asked to repair myself…

HO insurance asking to repaired myself or cancel the policy. 7yrs old house has some shingle lift up or need to stick it. American Risk Ins send letter to do it by yourself else Policy will cancel. Policy has initialed 2 months ago. No phone call No email No text but mail. Not recommend it or neither connect with them. both thumbs down!!!!. bad experience. learn lesson
