Amotia were fantastic and I can't thank them enough. Greta price, no oversell on Excess insurance, seamless delivery and collection from Lisbon Airport. Great Communications on arrival and return. Great car in mint condition. I can't recommend them enough.
Good,Agents waited patiently for our 3.5 hour delay through airport security (Lisbon security queues horrendous)Vehicle wasn’t what we ordered or expected- we’d ordered a small automatic SUV and were given a small / meduim saloon car…. Which in fairness performed okay except the gear box wasn’t good. Drop off was good too, all-in-all a satisfactory experience- only criticism was the vehicle 🚗….. if I request a pint of gin and tonic for example - I don’t wish to be handed half pint of beer 🍺 I get it that when you order the vehicle it’s ’or equal alternative’ but this wasn’t equal.
We walked across to P4 car park were we found the stand. After filling the information in which I could have done online. The lady was very friendly and polite. She made me aware that I must return the car with the same amount of fuel.On returning the car we dropped it off in P1 car park they came and checked it out. Before wishing us a safe flight home. After they had left I realized that my wallet was still in the car. So I contacted them and with in 10 minutes I had my wallet back.
I have serious doubts about the legitimacy of this company. It seemed like they operated out of a van. I booked a Group D car that appeared to be similar to a Subaru or a large sedan. A few days before the rental, I emailed to confirm I was getting their largest vehicle, but they informed me I needed Group E. So, imagine my surprise when they showed up with a Seat Arona that barely fit our luggage and daughter. After driving a few blocks, I found the clutch was so stiff and temperamental that I had to return to their offices to get a different vehicle. Initially, they said they had none available, but then they provided a 2019 Skoda Fabia. While it was larger and easier to drive, it was old and consumed a lot of gas, using three-quarters of a tank to drive 300km to Sagres. We were instructed to return the car at Lisbon airport by driving to the purple level. However, when we arrived, there was no Amoita there. They had actually meant the parking garage at Terminal 2, not the car rental return car park. How were we supposed to know that? After hurried phone calls, getting stuck in traffic, and dealing with my daughter in tears, we finally received the correct instructions 40 minutes later. We had to find a man with a white van for the return. He claimed the return instructions were in the email, but I couldn't find them anywhere.Overall, the experience was sketchy, disappointing, and there was no price adjustment for the old car and the inconvenience. I would never rent from them again.
DO NOT USE!!! LOTS OF HIDDEN EXTRA CHARGES DO NOT USE...PLEASE BE WARNED!!!!DREADFUL COMPANY. We have also reported their dishonest practices to their trading standards who have confirmed they are investigating so anyone unhappy please do the same. For people who are on a tight budget this is so unreasonable and underhand. We Challenged the extra costs of over 80€ on principle. Zest have been rubbish in addressing the matter and AMOITA.COM JUST TELL LIES. You may as well rent from the reputable car cos.We arrived at Faro airport at 930pm. Their ‘office’ closes at 10pm and is in car park 4 next to the portacabin. We arrived at 950pm. The Rep literally has a high bar table which she uses as her base in the car park. We go to Portugal two or three times a year. I normally book through the more reputable car hire cos but thought I would give it a go for £97.00. We booked a small car. The car was covered in dents and scratches, which were marked on our contract but the Rep didn’t come to the car. She told us we had a full tank, which when we set off appeared to be but just as we left the airport the last digit appeared on the fuel indicator. The car was okay but scruffy but we thought for that amount it was ok. We were promised a phonecall the day before departure to arrange the drop off...No missed calls on either of our phones, texts or emails? I emailed them the morning before our departure, no reply. We arrived at 4am but couldn’t get through the barrier due to a stationary van so pulled into P2. My husband went to look for the rep in P4 spent over twenty minutes looking for them including the portacabin, he also asked the other car hire reps and they said they hadn’t seen the usual people that come. They advised us to leave the keys and ticket in the drivers sun visor. I also emailed the co and told them what we had done.No reply. A week later after our return I emailed them, no reply. I emailed zest in the U.K. and then I received a reply from them. They Stated there was someone there at 4am, they had rung both our nos and texted us the day before. So the out of hour charges of €25 x 2 collecting and dropping off was in order. This is all basically NOT TRUE. The car was also returned with the same amount of fuel but they state it was full and filled it and charged us accordingly. They did not inform us of the cost of the toll charges which will have been minimal as we only used the motorway from faro to Tavira and back again. They have denied everything and as a result charged us nearly €80 extra. So not cheaper at all. My advise DO NOT USE AMOITA. Dreadful and we will use a reputable co in the future, Enterprise have always been very good at the Aport.
Very helpful and friendly service. We rented a Nissan Micra manual car for 1 month to travel all around Portugal during May. The car was great and we found the staff at the Lisbon Rua da Guine office (near the airport) very helpful and friendly. They gave good advice to all of the questions that we asked upon both pickup and delivery.
From the time we found their website, which was very informative, to the ease of picking up and droping off the car was amazing. Their Customer Service is second to none. Paulo, Debra, and the young man (sorry we can't remember his name) made our experience outstanding. They provide contact numbers in case you require assistance throughout your travels. They respond quickly to email inquiries. Felt like a very personable experience. We rented from their Lisbon Office just north of the Airport. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Express before your departure they are 2 mins across the street and will pick up the car for you.We highly recommend Amoita Car Rental.
