We recently traveled to Tulum for my sister’s milestone birthday. We had not issues during our travel for arrival transport or destination transport. But upon our return/departure the driver took us to the Cancun airport and not Tulum which made us miss our flight. Amstar made us wait in the airport parking lot for 5hrs before they could resolve the issue. Because they wanted the driver to pay for the airfare out of pocket vs paying for it as a corporate (they said it’s the drivers fault he has to pay for it). Of course the driver did not have the $5k USD to get us on a list minute flight for three adults. I was floored. I told them they just need to be honest with us ambit what’s happening so this can be resolved. They finally settled on getting us a hotel and a flight for the next day which they would pay for. They were to provide a like for like experience meaning all-inclusive for all-inclusive and they agreed. But here’s the catch they sent us to the hotel and did not secure reservations they just called to see if they had availability. They fully expected us to pay and then pray to be reimbursed. It was unreal the amount of deceit and misinformation we experienced. Thank goodness for Martin at the Breathless Cancun Soul who took care of us or we would have been stranded in Cancun as the driver just left us there, Amstar left us in a foreign country with no transport or support. It was utterly disgusting, made us feel unsafe and afraid. I’m completely disgusted and still looking for ways to resolve the issue now that I’m safely home. Please be careful using their services.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Amstar Transportation - Beware!

I recently booked private transportation with Amstar and had a highly disappointing experience. I booked their service to be picked up from the airport. My flight landed at 2:30 PM, but despite this, I was not picked up until 4:20 PM, leaving me and my two kids stranded for nearly two hours. While I understand that delays can happen, the lack of communication and support during this wait was unacceptable.On the day of my return trip, I requested to be picked up two hours earlier to ensure I could make my international flight on time. I was told that they refused to adjust the pickup time, and their response was that I was “more than welcome to cancel the transport and get a taxi.” When I inquired about a refund, the representative bluntly stated that Amstar would not refund me, and I should try to get a refund from CheapCaribbean instead.This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would strongly advise against booking Amstar, especially if you are traveling with kids. The lack of reliability and poor customer service made our trip unnecessarily stressful.

It’s the luck of the draw

I have always used this company for airport transfer in D.R. Multiple times no issue. However in Jamaica it was disorganized but it worked out so I inquired about an atv excursion for 3 adults and two kids.They sold me a horrible excursion to yaaman adventure park Jamaica. Currently I am going thru the process of looking to get a refund. I don’t know yet if they will but they should. There is no space on the site to describe how horrible the experience went. Shame on amstar for putting there reputation on that scam excursion.

DO NOT USE FOR EXCRETION

Please Do not use this Company. I could not do the excretion. Ask for a refund. They did not give my money back. The people they have worked for them is a joke. Very rude. And give out wrong information. I will not use this Company again. I wish, I did not have to put that one Star. Because they Don’t need That. TRASH as a company.

Lack of responsibility

I used their transportation services when I visited Cancun. The driver did not unload all of our luggage. Once I realized all items were not unloaded I immediately contacted the on-site Amstar representative at our resort. In the end, I was told the luggage was not on the van and that I gave the driver verbal confirmation that I had all items. I never spoke with the driver as the concierge handled the exchange so that was a lie. My husband waited to get in the shuttle until all items were loaded on and saw the driver load the item. In the end, Amstar did not take responsibility for the driver's mishap.

Amstar DMC Review

Traveled to Cancun March 2024. Had reservations with this company. Was hard to find this company at the airport. That whole airport is chaotic. Once there, I had to wait 20 minutes while they waited for other passengers to arrive from their flights. The driver got confused and went to the wrong hotel. He eventually pulled over and asked for the addresses for everyone's hotel. He had to enter them in his cellphone gps. It was over 2 hours from leaving the airport to get to my hotel via this shuttle. Pickup wasn't bad. They were on time at my hotel to go back to the airport. I was the first pickup but the rest of the pickups were fairly quick and we got to the airport in about an hour. I was surprised when the driver announced that we could put our tips in a basket in front of the shuttle bus. It's rare that tips are blantly requested. I will not be using this service again.

Zero stars if I could

If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. We waited over an hour to go from the airport to the hotel. We diligently booked and confirmed our pickup to the airport for 9:25. It has been well over an hour and there is no transportation to be found. We might miss our flight at this point. This is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and use literally any other company.

Terrible experience

Kept us waiting in the sun for over 20 minutes even though we had a reservation for a PRIVATE VAN. Other vans pulled up, and people who arrived after us got whisked away, while a dozen Amstar reps chatted with each other and ignored us. Then, on the return, we were told they couldn't pick us up at our allotted time!!! We ended up having to take a taxi to the airport at the last minute. What a SCAM.

SUCKED, big time!

It sucked. Took Chukka catamaran in Jamaica. It cruised out 10 minutes from shore, allied 30 minutes to snorkel. Then cruised 5 minutes and just floated. It was a boozed “Float,” not a cruise. Could see our dock whole time. Crew promoted twerking by 90% passengers. It was disgusting. I would’ve like to actually cruise the coastline to see some of the island. Worst crap ever! Just complete garbage.

I wish they had a 0 option

I wish they had a 0 option. We come to the Dominican often. This time we used Amstar and we got through customs and were escorted to the amstar van where we waited 40 minutes after traveling all day. The reason we were given was they were waiting on some other people from our flight. That wait should have been no longer than 10 minutes. But I guess while we were waited shut up in a van for over half an hour these people were getting a bite to eat. After 10 minutes Amstsr should have taken us to our resort and taken the other people when they were finally ready. We paid for our transfer. Also after us waiting we were dropped off last. There was no group rate. We will never use Amstar again anywhere!
