My husband has Medicare (A&B) and a supplemental plan from Aetna; he’s retired. Apria is telling me that “Aetna medicare” is his combined plan. ????? I have no idea what they are talking about. His semi electric hospital bed was supposed to be Medicare approved. One employee was baffled that the Medicare isn’t able to be applied and the others are saying they will send the claim to Aetna Medicare again - while I see it’s been denied in Oct & Nov. I have given them his Medicare card/info and they will recognize it. I prefer to buy a bed and mattress myself instead of letting this company waste my time, money and circumvent the system.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are insurance company billing scam artists. They will lie to you about what is covered, make you order things you don't need and then send you a bill for hundreds of dollars. And coincidently, the authorization from your insurance company of what is covered, will always come back way after their return period.
Terrible customer service, zero accountability. I just received the wrong equipment for the THIRD time. They don't care about getting me the right equipment. Just about getting the other wrong orders back and billing my insurance company. Oh, and all of their online billing technology is outdated. I genuinely can't imagine running a company this badly and being able to sleep at night.
If I could, I would give Apria Direct zero stars. We were taken in because Medicare uses Apria for delivering health supplies. We were sold duplicate items that we paid for out of pocket. We attempted to return the duplicate and more than a month later they are still awaiting a return label from the manufacturer. We finally disputed the charge with our credit card company. I should have checked trust pilot before I made the purchase!
After receiving a $75 payment from my insurance company the pria delivered personally and nebulizer to me. That's because you have to sign a tablet confirming that you received it. Why not use FedEx or UPS or return receipt requested? That's because you're not signing a confirmation of deliverythey are illegally having you signed a rental agreement. Just rental agreement stated they were charging $100 a month for this nebulizer. My insurance coverage 75 of it they wanted me to pay the other 25 You can get this nebulizer at any medical supply store for the average price of $23. Since receiving it I received emails from them every single day asking for their money they want me to sign the agreement online again and there's no way to refuse it there's no email address for them there's no way to get them to come pick it up or anything .
I had a Bipap machine for severe sleep apnea. It was billed through my insurance and Apria have confirmed they received $3,755.70 from my insurance company. This is about $1,000 more than the actual cost of a new machine. I canceled my insurance and then April billed me $617. When I asked them if this was the balance of the cost of the machine, which I would have been fine paying, they told me no, this is a monthly rental for the next 15 months. This would total $9,200 plus the $3,755.70 they already received, so $12,975. This equals the retail cost of 5 BiPap machines. I know this as when I returned this one to Apria, I bought a new one online. Their approach to this has been appalling. They are trying to gouge me for a machine that they have already received full payment, plus extra for the machine and are now hounding me for this $617 which would total the cost of two brand new machines with what was already paid. I am appalled by this severe gouging and cannot believe they thought they could get way with charging 5 x the amount of a new machine.
Worst Insurance billing service ever. I have had the same insurance for the past 20 years. After my local c-pap supply service closed I was switched to Apria. I am supposed to receive new supplies every 3 months. Every single time I am billed for a co-pay even though I have met maximum out of pocket with the insurance company. This company also rakes the insurance company over the coals by charging multiple times the amount that the supplies can be purchased for at other suppliers. Stay away from this company at all costs.

Apria Healthcare exists to make money by hurting people. It's a terrible company that hopes patients die so they don't have to deal with them. CEO @DanStarck1
