Avoid this company. Information provided was generic and not helpful. They mentioned needing to sign up as a member for $5.00 a month, then charged my cc $65.00. and upon signing in I discovered the $65.00 would be a monthly charge, Canceling my membership was easy to do, but they will not refund the initial $65.00.
I just realized that this company is a total SCAM. Panicked pet owners (like myself) turn to them and end up with an advice “go to a vet” for $65 USD.In reality, what else can they say? Pets cannot tell you where it hurts. These vets do not prescribe medication…There is really nothing they can help you with and they know it. And this is why they trick you somehow into signing up for some kind of membership and monthly fee. I noticed this fee on my monthly bill on my credit card, but many people don’t pay attention. Now when I read the reviews, I realize I’m not the only one. This people take advantage of people‘s love for their pets and the animal suffering…DISGUSTING!
Emotionally baits pet owners by saying you can speak to a vet 24/7. I went through the AI and it told me it will only be a $5 fee. It did not disclose I would have to pay a $65 monthly subscription. So after I went through and paid, I checked my bank account and saw they charged me 65$. I didn't freak out right away because when I saw that I can get a call on my phone from the vet maybe it'll be valuable advice but, low and behold I did not get a call at all or a response to chat messages. This really sucks because on weekends all the vet hospitals are closed and on top of that the emergency hospitals barely have any knowledge of exotic pets. I was in distressed and desperate to get an answer to help my hamster that is having a stroke and this website took advantage by billing me. If I can give this website zero stars I would. God is watching you. Update: (6 am eastern on September 21st the following day)I actually got a response at 4 am eastern from an expert but, I responded at the time because I have to wake up for work anyways. The expert gave me some good advice on what to do I'll give her that. She wasn't able to call me but, she supported me and was empathetic through text. I now update my review to 3 stars because, I still was billed 65 dollars unexpectedly. I would of been fine with it if I was warned about being billed this much. I would have used a different card.
When I first went into askavetonline the cost was $13 so I proceeded got the consultation and found I was charged $93, that was a month ago today they took another $93 from my account, when I finally got in contact with them they stated I signed up for their membership. I have subsequently contacted my bank and now I’m going to try and navigate through their website to cancel said membership. Don’t use this service it’s a massive piss take and I’m out $93 for nothing, if this is how they make their it shouldn’t be legal
Advice given was horrible, my dog had Parvo and died thanks to the advice given of “sounds like food poisoning and will just need a little time to get better… he died the next day..Have tons of hidden charges and mention “one time fee” but they sign you up for a memberships at 100$ per month.
Poor Billing Practices. Not really up front with membership. Yes, its listed in the terms. Although, it is not really noticeable especially when you are stressing over answers for a pet that is ill. No notices were sent after signing up either. I thought it was a one time fee for an answer. When contacting the company they would not return 1 of the 3 monthly charges as a courtesy. It was my fault for not reading the details but I thought they could be nice and return 1. No, they were not even understanding as to why something like that could happen. They are good with knowing how to make money of their system. Doesn't leave me with a comforting feeling for the care of my pet.
First I used this site to determine if my dog had parvo. They couldn't give me an accurate description of symptoms. My dog ended up passing. While that wasn't there fault, they have this hidden membership that once you pay to ask ONE QUESTION you are signed up for. No, there is no way to cancel unless you are aware of the membership fee which they don't tell you anything about while you are paying to ask a question, they do not provide an email regarding the membership or anything. And it is very hard to cancel and the customer service team is not aware of the prompts their company provides! You will not get a refund for unwanted memberships and when you do call and cancel make sure to call repeatedly to ensure it's cancelled because if you don't they will charge you again and tell you they can't refund it. JUST GO SEE A VET. This service is not worth the headache! Oh yeah and don't ask to speak to a supervisor because you NEVER will! You are just going to be out of another $33 until you confirm the next month that it really is cancelled. TERRIBLE customer service! I am not one to step out of my character because I have worked in customer service for years and I understand how it goes but with these people I was super upset before I knew it!
Thieves. My baby girl died before a vet contacted me. I spoke to her and said to cancel the subscription. Now, they want to continue to charge me $35.00 p/m. They make it impossible to cancel. Now my credit card co (Capital One) is taking over the dispute. I could shoot these thieving bastards. When a person contacts them, it will usually be under duress, as they have a health problem with their beloved pet, so to make matters worse, they screw us out of our money.
