Wakefield Clinic - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Myself, my partner and my Mum visited for an early reassurance scan when I was 9 weeks. The lady on reception was welcoming and pleasant, however that is where our good experience stopped. We went into the scan room and the sonographer asked me to take a seat on the bed. She did not introduce herself and took a rude and abrupt manner from the off. While I was sat on the bed, she was filling in someone else’s record and scan report on the machine which was broadcasted onto the big TV screen in front of us. She then began asking me questions, is this your first pregnancy, date of last period etc. The sonographer was still filling in someone else’s record at this point which is a complete breach of confidentiality. Their name and date of birth were just some of the things that could be seen. This did not put me at ease and gave the impression that my data would not be stored securely. The sonographer then went onto ask the same questions again as she clearly wasn’t listening the first time round. I would have much rather waited outside for an extra 5 minutes or so while the sonographer finished inputting the information on someone else’s record. She then started the scan and within a minute or so said my bladder was full and I needed to empty it by half. How am I supposed to be aware what half of my bladder volume is? I then went back on the bed and my bladder was apparently still too full so I was again sent to the toilet, feeling like it now was almost empty. The sonographer scanned me for a third time and told me I was wrong about my date of last period (I definitely wasn’t). I advised that I’d had an early reassurance scan just over two weeks prior to this one at a difference clinic and the baby measured 5 weeks and 4 days which was 9 days behind the gestational age. I then went onto explain we’d seen the heartbeat at the other scan. The sonographer became more abrupt and told us that it was “impossible” that we’d seen the heartbeat at 5w4d. She then demanded to see the scan report and was extremely rude and abrupt. She said then went onto reiterate that she’d never seen a heartbeat at 5w4d in her 10 years of being a sonographer, and that it was impossible we had seen it. We most certainly had seen the heartbeat, and it was also measured at 95bpm and the waves could be seen on the scan picture. The sonographer then went onto say that my baby had definitely grown from my last scan (she wouldn’t know this as she didn’t have the measurements at this point) and baby was measuring around 7 weeks, but throughout this time we never once saw a clear picture of the baby. The sonographer then said that the cord was in the way and it was wrapped around the baby which of course caused massive alarm bells. We were then sent on our way for a 10 minute walk to try and get things moving so we could get a better picture. Now being scanned for the fourth time, I was feeling extremely uncomfortable as the sonographer wasn’t reassuring in the slightest - she was rude, abrupt and causing a lot of anxiety for myself by saying the cord was wrapped around the baby. She still could not get a clear picture and then went onto ask me to come back 2 days later for another scan, and if she couldn’t get a clear picture she wanted me to go to the Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital on the Monday. She then said “and bring that scan report with you.” I advised the sonographer that I had the report on my phone as it had been emailed. She asked to see it so I showed her the report on my phone. She then went onto say baby was measuring bigger than the size on the previous scan, which of course I questioned because not once had we seen the baby on the scan. I put my phone down on my chest as my partner was sat on a seat and I couldn’t reach to pass him my phone back whilst laid down. The sonographer then went onto talk about how the cord was definitely in the way of the picture and that I must go back 2 days later. She then caught sight of my phone on my chest and accused me of recording her! I had to show her my phone to prove I wasn’t recording at all and she did not apologise for making the accusation. It is needless to say that we did not return and I referred myself to the early pregnancy unit the following day. The manager of the unit was disgusted to hear of my experience: the breach of confidentiality, me not being scanned properly, the sonographer providing incorrect information and of course her abrupt and rude manner towards us… not to mention being accused of recording her! Luckily, the early pregnancy unit got me in for a scan on the Sunday morning. I became familiar with the Wakefield clinic’s CQC report from last year shortly after our visit and was disgusted with the findings from the CQC. It looks like nothing has changed. A formal complaint has been raised via email, however judging from others’ experiences it doesn’t look like I will get far.

Awful

The lady who scanned me at the blackpool clinic was rude and abrupt! Asked me what i was doing there? Never introduced herself or got a warm welcome! I made a booking for a 2D Reassurance scan This scan did nothing but worry me and absolutely nothing reassuring about it. The whole time she was chewing and sucking on what I presume to be a mint and she barely spoke a word and if and when she did she was surely abrupt. I will now begin to inform you of what I was told from the questions I asked.- That I should have had a gestational diabetes check. - My baby is measuring over 2 weeks a head, yet then went on to say the baby shouldn’t exceed a weight of 8 pound at birth but currently at 31 weeks with a 4 pound 8 ounce baby this is highly unlikely if these readings are so forth correct.- The babys fluid is low so I should continue to only drink plain water to keep the baby hydrated. Myself who is not a professional clearly knows this information is false and drinking water has nothing to do with fluid levels.- also was told the baby is breechThe whole experience I felt uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to leave. I have taken steps to contact my maternity unit to explain my worries and what I was falsely informed of. Multiple midwife’s have confirmed to me what I’ve been told is false information, that this lady isn’t qualified nor should of told me this medical information as it has lead to days of stress, worry and upset. My baby is 1. NOT BREECH2. Not growing a head it is perfect in size 3. My fluid levels are not low they are how they should beI’ve had this confirmed by an NHS consultant at an ultrasound scan the day after I had this awful scan done at this company.I certainly won’t be returning and I was utterly shocked at the treatment I was given as I have been to different places and always felt reassured and made comfortable seen as I am paying your company £50 I’m disappointed that I’ve paid so much to be left in such shock and state! I have also emailed your complaints email and I look forward to a reply and hopefully some compensation and empathy !! Now you’ve blocked me off Instagram ? Why?

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

*Update, i was offered a complimentary scan to make up for the bad experience, however after explaining i wish to not return back there after how we were treated, they've said they can't offer any other form on compensation. They just want to take your money*AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!Do not recommend. Save your money! We booked the Blackpool branch for an 8 week scan as a bit of reassurance but what a mistake! Arrived to an overbearing “receptionist” who was blasting dance music which was very unsettling, especially as a nervous couple expecting their first child & would have appreciated a calm environment. The printer was broken but we were told they could email us the photos which was fine. There was a couple before us who had brought about 6 family members with them & they allowed them all in, which is fine but they went way over their allotted time to which when our time came the Sonographer accused us of being “very late” when we’d actually arrived 15 minutes early but had to wait over 45 minutes extra and by this point my bladder was going to burst. The Sonographer was very rude to my husband & I, she told me off for my bladder being too full, she told me off for being too tense rather than speaking calmly to me & understanding my nerves, everything she asked me was in a short & very annoyed tone for example she asked when my last day of my first menstrual cycle was & when I told her she demanded I was wrong to which I explained I track it on an app & can show her proof? When she did a wellness check & didn’t say a word just pulled very concerned faces as she dug the sensor further into my bladder & replied with “hmm” noises when asked if everything was ok.At the end of our session she just said “scan complete” & turned around, leaving my husband & I to awkwardly clean myself up & leave the room. The receptionist then insisted his printer might be working now but we just asked for them to be emailed so we could leave ASAP.

Would definitely recommend the Bolton clinic!

Fantastic service at the Bolton clinic today, cannot recommend this place enough! The receptionist was so lovely as soon as we walked in and the sonographer was very attentive and showed me my baby in detail. So happy I'm having a boy! Thank you so much to the Bolton team, I'll definitely be back for my 4D scan!

Best baby scan so far!

I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough! Went today for a secret gender scan and the gentleman on the front desk, I believe was the manager, was super friendly and chatty. He explained to us how it would work with placing the gender in an envelope with card on either side so we couldn’t see through it. When we went through to the scan, the lady who was carrying this out was so lovely and extremely funny. She had me and my partner in tears of laughter when we were trying to get baby to move around so she could see the gender. We were in there for around half an hour and didn’t feel rushed whatsoever! We got to choose which pictures we would like in the end and they even gave us a free one! I was a bit sceptical as last night I started to read reviews and saw a few bad ones but I would definitely return back here in the future and can’t seem to think what people would have to complain about!

Confusing set up.

I booked a scan for a local surgery (Glanfa) and found the confirmation email a bit odd. Had a miscarriage and tried to call the clinic to cancel, but the number for the surgery didn't even ring. When you go on The Baby Ultrasound website their contact number is the exact same as the local surgery's, despite them allegedly covering a wide area of the UK. I then Googled Glanfa Surgery again and found out from an article that it was shut down 2 years ago. This is a scam, I'm sure of it.Edit: They replied to my email asking to cancel and now also to this review so that is reassuring & I've upped the stars. I'm still weirded out by the phone number not working and it's a pity you can't get your deposit refunded .

Messed up scan & then ignored me

Tried to contact the clinic on multiple occasions regarding a complaint I have and assistance I need in regards to a refund however the manager hasn’t even responded after almost 4 weeks, absolute joke, it’s awful.
