Review Time
Initially I was very impressed with Beermerchants. Easy to order, quick shipping, excellent packaging.Only now have I noticed that the beer I was shipped is 6 months past it's best-by date of Jan 24. OK, so the beer was on sale, so I got a good price, but there was nothing on the website to say why it was on sale !Will not use this company again based on that failure to provide accurate product information. Fortunately there are plenty of other Beer websites out there to spend my money at !
I've read some of the recent bad reviews and I can only say my experience with Beer Merchants was all good. Best price I could find on the web for my favourite Belgian beer, Brugse Zot, very quick delivery, it took 2 days and was well packaged. I checked my bottles use by dates as I'd seen some dodgy comments but mine were all mid 2024. No complaints and will defo use again.
Update: so I received the missing parts on the 26th. While I appreciate the quick dispatch the items did not arrived in time due to an error by the seller. I had to buy beer again from a different supplier so I spent double. Again this was completely down to their error. If I was a shop and made an error I would have corrected it differently. If it was possible I would have dispatched the package with Saturday delivery, surely DHL has service like that. Cost more of course but that's how you correct your error. Or would have just add a can of complimentary beer for the error. Neither of this happened. I paid the same price for partial service. Very simple trading concepts. I can guarantee that I won't buy from this shop ever again. Stars are staying 2 stars as they acted, communicated quick but still, this isn't the place where I would spend any of my money. Update: so I emailed them right away I noticed the missing keg, this was something around 7-8pm, woke up the next morning and got an email from DHL that a pick up was arranged then got an email from beer merchants apologising for the error and let me know they dispatched it right away. Action was taken in a very urgent manner. Now I am hoping the keg will arrive in time. Changed starts from 1 to 2, and will change it again when the keg is with me. Delivery time was ok as stated on the website but they didn't send a mini keg and a free pint stein. How can you miss these 2 large items??? Party is ruined, first and last time ordered from these people. Ridiculous carelessness.
Very disappointed with the service on my second order. First time using them it was great, delivered on time and everything correct. Second time, it’s been 3 weeks since i ordered, no sign of any beer and customer service didn’t bother to get back to me despite saying they would chase DHL as i wasn’t given a tracking number. Ended up disputing via paypal since it seemed the only course of action, surprisingly they haven’t responded to that either. Also worryingly, looks like i’ve been signed up to a subscription i didn’t ask for but again, i’ve been ignored when i queried that too.
Terrible. They show you a deal that looks really good and it says in the small print there can be subs. When you get it half the order is different so it was beer company I tried 2 of their beers and I wanted to try an other two. The beers the sent were the ones I had already. So very disappointed
If you're happy with out of date beer and terrible customer service, this is the company for you but if like me you prefer your beer fresh then I'd suggest going to another company. 14 bottles out of 20 were out of date, 10 by 2 months, the other 4 by a week. Tried phoning several times and no answers and have emailed and also no reply.Seems to be a common complaint.
Ordered a Delirium Gift Box from Beer Merchants for a work colleague's leaving gift. It arrived quickly but unfortunately the glass had broken in transit. Got in touch with customer services and they sent a new one out immediately.Great service
Ordered on 25/05. Received 2 cans dated 23/03 and several dated 07/05. Some others didn't even have a BBE just a packaged date of Jul 21 so probably past BBE too. They ignore your emails querying this. Seems to be a common theme based in other review. AVOID
Beer Merchants have lost my trust. I bought their ‘Imperial Stout’ mixed selection a while ago. They had the nerve to sneak in a 5% stout (that was very average in flavor too) trying to pass it off as an imperial. No one would think that’s an impy stout. If they claim they’re selling and imperial stout box then each beer should be an imperial stout. When I wrote to them to complain they ignored my email. When that happens people tend to be more inclined to write bad reviews.
It took 3 attempts and almost one month (which included me chasing) for them to actually send my order, excuses given blaming their delivery supplier and factors “outside their control”. I could accept that once, but twice on the same order is a joke. What makes it worse is that they didn’t proactively remediate this, I had to chase it to get it sent for a third time. Shocking service provided.
