The product is great. The customer service rep was excellent; however, after I made the purchase I call Briggs and Riley to see if my purchase could be upgraded to two day delivery at my cost. The service rep said that would not be a problem and stated it was upgraded to two day service and I would receive my order on Friday. Perfect, because I am leaving Saturday AM for a two week trip and I needed the suitcase. At approximately 4:30pm on Friday, I received a call from the service rep who informed that the shipping instructions were not followed and were changed back to a ground service and I would not receive my order till Monday. Two days after I am gone. Needless to say, I now have to purchase a another suitcase which I don’t want to use for my trip. So now this Briggs and Riley order, which I happily paid full price for, is now going to cost me another $250. I just expected that instructions would be followed to a “T” at these premium prices.
My first Briggs and Riley rollerbag is still in use (Purchased in 1995, been to all 50 states, 6 continents and 4M miles in the air). When the airlines run out of overhead space, the bag gets checked and it really has taken a beating. B&R honors the lifetime warranty, under which I've had fixed/replaced a new liner, multiple zippers, and even a new handle and wheels. My wife bought this bag for her first job, and because we were just starting out, money was tight, and I remember what a hard time that I gave her for the $300 price (1995). If I only knew then what I know now.As a frequent traveler, I acknowledge that I'm hypercritical about luggage function, design, and durability. I've tried Tumi and it's not worth the premium. I've had all sorts of Samsonite bags and consider them disposable...they last a year or two, fall apart, and then I buy new ones (I buy the cheap bags for the infrequent, longer trips, where I know that the airlines will be putting them through a shredder). What I like about my new B&G rollerbag is that it is lightweight, and has significant design improvements and innovations over the older bag. I really like what B&G have done with the garment section, incorporation of certain straps, compartments, as well as hardware. The bag is hyper-functional for the kind of travel that I do. I took the opportunity to also purchase a backpack for overnight trips, as well as a laptop bag. I'm also very pleased with the smaller bags, for the same reasons above. B&G designs do the job really well, and knowing that I'll be supported by the B&G warranty has earned them my loyalty for life.
Adding to our luggage. B & R luggage has served us well and wouldn't think of adding other than a B & R piece. The piece added is similar to a piece my wife uses and I will use it in place of my back pack. Convenient lay out and ease of use is what led me to this decision.
Ordered a carry on bag with personalized monogram. Item was delivered in a short period of time with accurate initials on the bag. It was a gift and well received. B&R communication about the status of the order was top notch. Highly recommended
Briggs and Riley are a niche firm that can be found in High Street shops such as John Lewis and on line via Amazon but to get the real deal as they say you should go directly to their website as their entire range is on display and that is where I found what I was looking for. The prices are good (too many to list) but if you are looking for that present which is both useful and practical I can only give it the highest of praise. The bonus is their Customer Service and I hope when I name and praise Linda she will not mind as she is fantastic and a real asset because you go on line it is sometimes difficult to convey what you are looking for and she was wonderful in helping me choose. So although I could give no more than five stars Briggs and Riley and Linda in particular deserve TEN.
