Awful! Bloody awful! In the first instance Canada Life online systems are sclerotic. They have never heard of 2FA which means you rely on 'memorable data'. Unfortunately the system crashes continually so you can NEVER access your account. Until it is reset. Then crashes again.

Secondly to withdraw a Trust requires reams of paperwork. Most of duplication. They say it can be done by email, but reality is that because it requires multiple signatures it has to be printed off [not helpful when the other trustee lives the other end of the country]. They do not seem to have heard of online forms.

In short go with someone who is in the C21 no the C19!

I’ve written at length to the CEO office detailing my concerns with Canada LifeMany phone calls cut off mid sentence without the courtesy of them phoning me back. I was told they had problems with their phones - we’ll get it fixed pronto

Lack of communication

Have not received any correspondence from Canada Life regarding my personal pension. I have a financial advisor with Liverpool Victoria and it may be CL are liaising with her, however I am completely in the dark about what is happening. I received my tax free lump sum straight to my bank account with no notification from CL. To date, I have no idea when they will start paying me my pension.

Changing to a different French bank account

At the beginning of February 2026 I requested to have my pension payment sent to a NEW French bank account. It has always been paid to my English bank account. I emailed with very specific instructions, with no response. I then rang them. The lady who answered said it could not be done using an IBAN code and that she required the sort code and account number. As French sort codes have a different format, she could not accept it. I rang again a few days later and spoke to a man who suggested I write another email which I did. This time I attached a ‘Payments to an EU bank account’ form and sent it to Retirement Servicing.I received an email saying that the information had been sent to their finance department.Today, 18th March, I find that a payment has been made to my OLD French bank account (which is closing on 23rd March) completely different from the ‘Payments to an EU bank account’ form I had sent them. My payments never did go to that account as they were paid into my English bank account. How they obtained details of the old French account is a complete mystery!I have sent yet another email asking them, very politely, if they will kindly rectify the situation in time for the April payment to be made.I await further developments…

A Company deserving of its high reputation!!

I've always heard and read good things about Canada Life in the financial world, but until you become an actual customer then it's just that. Through my Pension Fund Agent at Royal London, I secured the best annuity deal and I can say wholeheartedly that Canada Life is well deserving of its high reputation. The process of application, though at first glance appears daunting(for us Oldies!), is in reality quite simplistic and very efficient. Once submitted, all I had to do was wait for a month or so for 'wheels to turn' so to speak, and that was that: everything was approved and final Policy documents sent out soon afterwards. Compared to previous times with other Providers when I had to wait ages and be back and forth with annoying forms etc, this is certainly the modern way to do business, so many thanks to Canada Life which is without a doubt a great company! Also a big thanks to Royal London for expertly facilitating the whole Annuity process. Cheers!👍
