Dear CenterPoint Energy Team,We wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude for the exceptional service you provide, especially during our recent power outage. My husband and I have been residents of the Texas Gulf Coast for a year and a half now, and the lifestyle here is quite different from what we experienced in the Hill Country. One thing that has truly stood out to us is the incredible support from your team at CenterPoint. You have consistently made us feel like part of a family, and we are genuinely impressed by your quick response times.Today, we encountered a power outage in our home. After following our troubleshooting checklist without success, I reached out to CenterPoint. Although there were no reported outages in our area, your team promptly acknowledged our situation and took action. To our surprise, within just 30 minutes of reporting the issue, a CenterPoint truck arrived at our home with two dedicated gentlemen ready to assist. Louis Gotti and Joshua Bowman quickly diagnosed the problem and had it fixed in no time, restoring our power and peace of mind.We are incredibly grateful for the swift action and professionalism displayed by Louis Gotti and Joshua Bowman. It’s reassuring to know that CenterPoint Energy prioritizes its customers and is always there when we need it most.Thank you once again for your outstanding service. We feel fortunate to have you as our energy provider, and we look forward to many more years of reliable service.Warm regards,Jennifer & Michael
Was away from home Friday when gas was shut off - immediately paid bill not even 30mins later. Monday morning gas Still off - never encountered late payment ior interruption in 5 years service with Centerpoint. No phone call alerting interruption. Emergency line useless...So how long before gas service is up and running again. Why does it take so long?Gas is an essential asset. Traumatic experience. Still waiting for service...
They are always shutting the power off in our neighborhood and they call it planned power outages.. middle of summer, blazing hot. In the middle of cooking. Now i can't eat and I have to work hungry. Centerpoint is the absolute worst! Get it together and stop surprising people with these power outages! This happens way too often!!!
Do NOT buy the Home Service Plus Plan. We had a CenterPoint tech come out in April to repair our furnace. He replaced the furnace control board (which controls both the furnace and AC). We realized the control board was wired incorrectly when our AC didn’t work in June. We’ve been without AC for about a month through multiple weeks of 90+. When we called to report the error, the customer service rep said our plan didn’t cover AC repair and reminded us that the tech encouraged us to purchase additional coverage for the AC. Seems like a weird coincidence!! We canceled ASAP.
Their communication on what is covered when you call in and what they actually cover are 2 different issues. I can't stress enough that you are better off not being a customer and calling a service provider to address when you have an issue. You will come out thousands ahead in the long run. Centerpoint claims they protect your equipment, but when you actually need them, they tell you to buy new before they even know what the problem is. Subscribe at your own risk but you can't say you weren't warned.
Review Title: Unacceptable Delay and Poor CommunicationI have been without power for over 30 hours, and the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. I was told a technician would arrive between 8 AM and noon today to temporarily disconnect my power so the electrician could fix the wire your team damaged. It has now been over five hours past the scheduled time, and every time I call, I’m repeatedly assured that the technician is “on the way.”This needs to be completed ASAP so the electricians can finish their work, and your team can reconnect my power so I can have service today! The lack of urgency and transparency is extremely disappointing. I expected better reliability and communication, especially in a situation as critical as restoring power to my home.

I am a physician at the Michael E Debakey Veterans Affair Medical Center. I am the guardian, power of attorney, and caretaker for my 77yr old mother who has health issues and lives with me. I purchased a house in Manvel and moved it into it around Nov-Dec of 2024. My girlfriend transferred the water, garbage, electric, gas utilities under my name. She setup electronic billing and autopay so that we would not be bothered with paper bills. I am extremely busy treating military veterans and rarely have time to worry about things such as bills. On Friday 2/28/2025, my gas was abruptly disconnected. To our knowledge, we have no outstanding dues. We have absolutely no notices of outstanding dues or disconnection notice.1. As a result of gas disconnection I have no hot water in my house, causing extreme difficulties for a vulnerable person, my mother.2. I called Centerpoint Energy Saturday (3/1/2025) morning and was told that my connection was disconnected due to non-payment of dues! However, there was no way to make a payment and get the connection reinstated - Centerpoint offices are closed over the weekend3. This is a highly depraved and malevolent act by Centerpoint Energy - a. Absolutely no statement, notification, warning delivered by email, USPS mail, or other forms of commonly accepted communication methods.b. Disconnecting an energy supply in winterc. Disconnecting a critical utility just before the weekend with intent to harm, knowing fully well that the customer will have no recourse for the next 2-3 days.d. Putting a vulnerable senior citizen in danger We have truly become a society run by greed and avarice, enabled by laws enacted by politicians who are only concerned about corporations and re-election donations by the latter. The lack of humanity and civility is at levels of depravity increasing by the day.
