Overall this was a great experience for my child. A few improvements could easily be made. The WW1 / WW2 sites were perfectly selected for the best learning and experience possible. Walk with them, was a terrific theme. Netherlands do not take cash. They are mostly debit/credit only. All museums points of interest, federally connected establiments are 100% digital currency only. You'll need to send your kid with a joker Mastercard or a digital credit card. Food could be improved. Every night was chicken. I get it, high protein, low fat... But where's the dishes these places are known for? The kids will eat it. One dinner was boiled chicken... Yikes!!! Planning could have been better. This was the 1st trip since COVID for CCSD, I get it. It needed to be budget conscious to get better turnout, and check certain boxes. But on the 1st meeting the parents all said yes to the Eiffel tower being added as well as the river cruise, but only 1 amendment was made and submitted the the board. Then going up the Eiffel tower was submitted and rejected by the board as there had been a few amendments and this was enough. It would have been best to include all the extras and then peel away if/as needed. It was only $20, and all the parents were sad about their kids not getting the chance to ascend the Eiffel tower. Like I said the experience was tremendous, and only a few small improvements.
EF tours provided a wonderful program, culminating in a trip of a young lifetime! Their experience and preparedness as well as preparing us to send our child offered a great deal of confidence that he was going to receive an incredible experience and indeed, he did.
this was something I wish I could have done, and I'm jealous of the experience. the teacher was fantastic and class was enjoyable. everything was well planned and executed. I felt my child was in good hands which eased some of the worry about sending them across an ocean without me. it truly was a once in a lifetime experience
My first-time traveller son (age 16) travelled to major cities in Italy, Switzerland, France, and England. He loved his time with his small group, and he would have enjoyed the trip more if they didn’t have to have the other school join them. He loved the mountains of Switzerland the most. The time that he spent exploring with a small group was really memorable for him and I love that he navigated this at a young age. He enjoyed his tour guide, but he couldn’t hear a lot as his device kept cutting out as he was in the back of a long line. He is not much of a city kid, so this was really out of his comfort zone, but he looks forward to travelling again. As a parent, I don’t think the romantic Romeo and Juliet features, or the large emphasis on shopping was too useful. I would have loved for him to go into cathedrals and see crypts, and castles, and learn a lot more from the inside rather than doing so much walking outside of places. Also, given that he is 6’3” he needed a lot more space on the plane. I knew he would be uncomfortable, but he was absolutely unable to sleep on the flight days. His first day, he was up 28 hours. Overall, as a parent, you and his teacher made this all so easy. I’m very grateful for his experience. He learned a lot and had a great adventure. Thank you.
