Never had a bad experience with United! Whenever there is a delay or cancellation I have been able to rebook or change my flight quickly. Staff are always respectful and quick to help.
I fly 60 plus flights with other airlines each year. My wife had to fly United out of GSP to Africa. The United ticking agent are the rudest most unappreciative people I have ever seen. Saying things like "You need to come on up the counter now I need to go on break" , measuring bags and holding the ruler 5 inches past the end of the bag and saying it over sized. No respect for any person that was in the line. United must be hard up for help. Glad I fly Delta. Carole and Nicole should be fired. I have never seen anyone treaded like that in my 30 years of flying.
Dysropia
Bought a meal in flight. Was then told there was no cutlery. Asked how I was supposed to eat it and the waitress (that's all they are) shrugged her shoulders. I then asked a waitress in first class for a fork and well, you know the answer. I finally took the overcooked meal back and asked for a refund. Five minutes later the meal returned with a plastic fork. By then the meal was cold. I'm not only done with United. I'll not fly again. They are cattle cars.
SHOCKING SERVICE! They denied boarding to my 82-year-old DISABLED father-in-law because he wasn't precisely 45 minutes early. We got there 38 minutes ahead due to his slow walking with a walker, and we didn't have a wheelchair accessible option. They also turned away five other passengers who arrived around the same time. To make matters worse, all the check-in staff were unfriendly and seemed displeased. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE; IT'S DISGRACEFUL HOW THEY TREAT PEOPLE!
I travel often between major airports and usually choose this airline due to ticket prices and accumulated miles. However, after this holiday season, I’m reconsidering my options. Connecting flights after long-haul journeys are becoming increasingly challenging. While delays are never enjoyable, communication can significantly reduce stress. On one occasion, I was stuck on a plane due to a bottleneck, and there was a lack of communication from the control team. My connection was disrupted because an ambulance was parked at the gate with no updates provided to us. Currently, my return flight is delayed for over an hour due to unspecified paperwork issues. This is based on limited information shared with us. If I have to endure such stressful situations, I would appreciate more than just water on my connecting flights. Additionally, improvements to the interface on the back-seat screens would be welcome. I would be more tolerant of delays if the flying experience were enjoyable, but it isn’t. While this airline gets me to my destination affordably, I’m questioning if the hassle is worth it. I might prefer to fly with an airline that provides better care and keeps me informed.
The staff at the airport provided exceptional warmth and eagerness to assist, creating an unforgettable experience. They even offered to upgrade my seat for an international flight, which greatly enhanced my comfort during the journey, especially as a tall individual. I truly appreciate their help!
This airline has a monopoly in the Asia/Oceania region, making ticket prices exorbitantly high for such poor service. They have essentially taken my money and I am still fighting for a refund! My recent flight was delayed due to weather at just one airport out of four, and after two delays, I requested a reroute. They ignored me and sent me to the airport with awful delays, resulting in seven more delays. Customer service was unhelpful; I waited for hours on the phone and through their app for assistance, missing multiple flights in the process. To make matters worse, they canceled my flights without confirming with me while I was looking for alternate routes. I lost my reserved seat multiple times due to their lack of communication. By the time I was supposed to reach my destination, my trip was cut down to less than 24 hours. I spent two days stuck at an airport, further from my destination than when I started. When I requested a refund, they claimed it was impossible since I had begun my trip. This airline is infuriating; even if you have to spend a bit more elsewhere, it's worth avoiding this dreadful customer service.
On December 20, 2025, my wife and I had a wonderful experience on flight UA880 from Houston to London. We were connecting from New Orleans, and our incoming flight was late, adding stress. However, we received a message from the airline stating they would hold the plane for a few extra minutes, allowing us to board just in time. A flight attendant even helped us with our luggage and spoke to us in French during the flight, which was a lovely touch. We couldn’t thank him personally, but I hope he sees this: “Merci Cher Monsieur!” Our other checked bag made it home with us, and the food on board was delicious. This is why we give a full 5 stars!
The baggage office for this airline in Calgary has no signage, just a blank steel door. When you call, they direct you to door 13, but there's nothing there except a wall and the airport hotel offices. If you manage to get into the administration offices, they will inform you that they regularly have to guide lost passengers to the location. After knocking on the door repeatedly, you still find no one there. This experience is frustrating and leads to missed connections. The airline's treatment of passengers is appalling.
I’m done with this airline. As a frequent domestic business class flyer, my recent experience was disappointing. There were no drinks served during boarding, and I paid over $2,000 for a subpar experience. It's hard to understand why they call it 'First Class' when the service is so lacking. I suggest considering other airlines for a more comfortable flight. Even their new cabin design is inconvenient, making it difficult to access the bathroom when the passenger in front reclines. This airline does not prioritize passenger comfort.
